The staff is welcoming and efficient, with a lovely patio for summer enjoyment. However, the frappucinos and iced coffees are overly sweet, and there is a lack of salt for salads and couscous. The Wi-Fi is available but requires a complicated code. Despite these issues, the atmosphere is clean and commuter-friendly. The prices are a bit high, but the service and ambiance make it a convenient spot for office workers looking to escape the downtown rush.
I stopped here before getting on my bus to go to the airport, both to eat and to kill time and get out of the rain. I got here slightly before lunchtime, so it wasn't crowded then, but it soon would be. There are a bunch of places to sit. The people working there were very charming.Didn't try the coffee, but got lemonade and a sandwich. Both were nice and reasonably priced, considering this is downtown near many government buildings.
The drinks at Second Cup are quite tasty (albeit overpriced), but I can't say the same for the food. I've had almost exclusively bad experiences with their sandwiches, muffins and scones, and iced coffee, but their Frozen Hot Chocolate and London Fog are really nice! I went to the one on Laurier Ave.-Cumberland, which is basically student-run, so they're clearly doing a good job! (The food is mass-produced in the city, then shipped out, so the students have nothing to do with it).
It is probably because I can't get 2nd cup in the states but I love the tea and oatmeal in the am. Kids loved the pastries
The normalcy of this particular location will draw office workers inside, away from the bellicose hastiness of the downtown core, to indulge in sickly-sweet beverages; excellent for those who wish to take advantage of the Wi-Fi service.Otherwise, quite expensive, $7.68 (including tax) for a large Caramel Corrette latte, plus a Morning Glory muffin; $2+ for grocery store-quality pastry items can be costly. However, the staff are attentive, communicative and ready to serve. The interior is very clean, considering the amount of commuter traffic in this area.
This is a busy central location but service is good and staff are friendly. Baked goods are fresh. One of the better Second Cup locations.
