Ruby Inn - Ottawa
Ruby Inn
Description
Ruby Chinese restaurant in Ottawa has received mixed reviews from customers. While some have been loyal patrons for years, enjoying the delicious food and great service, others have had negative experiences recently. Complaints have ranged from burnt spring rolls and crunchy rice to a strong cigarette smell in the food. However, there are still many positive reviews praising the quality and taste of the dishes, such as the egg rolls and chicken balls. The restaurant seems to be a popular choice for take-out, with many customers mentioning the convenience of ordering ahead and picking up the hot and tasty food. Despite some setbacks, Ruby Chinese continues to attract customers looking for great Chinese food at a reasonable price, making it a must-try for anyone in the area.

The food was decent, but I think nearly $20 for wonton soup, two egg rolls, and a bottle of water is way too pricey. I won’t be returning.
They lowered their quality, increased their price, and lowered their portions. I used to love Ruby Inn when I lived in the area, I went out of my way to get it today and was very dissapointed. First of all the taste/quality has changed. The pork was grey/green and unappetizing, the chicken was dry, the chicken balls had been sitting in their sauce and were practically just soggy mush, just not the quality I remember. The portions/price are astronomically different, I paid 92$ for a dinner for 2 that I added wontons and an extra eggroll to. I used to order this exact thing due to the value but they are using significantly smaller than in the past. I understand businesses need to change sometines but they changed everything that was made this place worth going to. The quality and value is just not worth the price.
Prices are way too high. Should not cost $50 for a dozen egg rolls. Stop gouging. I stopped going ever since you did this. I get inflation but that's no excuse for you to rip people off. Not cool.
Ruby Inn consistently delivers excellent food. We've been visiting for years, and the quality of the meals remains outstanding.
Used to be my go to place for egg rolls and won ton soup. The price skyrocket and quality is now very poor. Last couple times I had these egg rolls gave me heart burn as almost it seems they are not changing frying oil and the pork in won ton soup was extremely fatty and they also reduced the amounts of won tons not worthy for an $8 soup and painfull eggrolls at $3 each....Too bad this used to be an excellent Chinese take out to now mediocre at best...
