The two vegan bowls at this restaurant are satisfying but excessively sauced. The mayonnaise-based sauce clashed with the already heavily sauced pulled jackfruit, making the dish too heavy. Although the portion size was good, the extra sauce was overwhelming. Despite the description mentioning different vegetables, it seemed like they were basically the same except for one having pulled jackfruit and the other tofu. The tofu was cooked well. There are numerous bubble tea choices, which can be confusing, especially when trying to determine which ones are vegan. Interestingly, there is also a sushi restaurant located within the same shop.
The restaurant has a surprisingly extensive menu considering its small size! I opted for one of their numerous bubble teas, which was very fruity and refreshing.
I adore their bubble tea, especially because they offer plant-based milk options and a wide variety of vegan dishes. I noticed that one of their dumpling sets is labeled as vegetarian only due to possible cross contamination, but the staff is very knowledgeable about veganism so don't hesitate to ask questions. The jackfruit "pulled pork" sandwich is delicious. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They have managed to stay open during Covid, so I really hope they continue to thrive and stay in business.
We came here for takeout on Sunday night, August 23. There is no indoor dining service due to COVID19 precautions. We ordered a mango bubble milk tea and the large order of shitake and ginger dumplings based on the review here. Our order was made on the spot, so we had to wait 15 minutes outside on the street. Then, since we had walked here from our downtown hotel, we had to wait for a bus during a torrential downpour, so by the time we got back to our hotel it was at least 45 minutes after picking up the dumplings. We ate them with the chili oil sauce, which did add some good flavour. But, I cannot say that I felt that this was a good value for the price, as the 15 dumplings cost $17.99 I seem to recall. The mango flavoured bubble milk tea was great, with lots of tapioca balls for an enjoyable bubble tea experience.
