Was User at Peter Devines a mag?
We visited this afternoon with the family on St-Patty's Day. It wasn't extremely busy yet because it was mid-afternoon but we found it very pleasant with a cozy atmosphere. We had beers and chicken nachos which were very good. View all feedback.
What User dislikes about Peter Devines:
This is a small, no-frills pub. I wish it was a bit dingier so that I could label it as a sketchy pub, but it's actually too new and too nice...which really disappoints me. View all feedback.

A group of us were meeting here for dinner on a Friday night. This is part of the Heart and Crown complex and it is the small building to the side. I have to admit I did not have high expectation for the food since I ate at Heart and Crown before although it was a few years ago. It was pretty average pub food and did not inspire frequent visit although it had decent drinks and some live entertainment on the weekend. The cover after 8 or 9pm is $5 I think and you have 3 live bands in different parts of the complex. I had the Guiness stew and it was an average beef stew. I tried one of the microbrews that I have not tried before and it was fine but there were a few other on the menu I would have liked better. There was a small 2 person band at Peter Devine's, a small one at the building to the left and a larger one in one of the back rooms.Parking on a Friday night was $7 in the garage across the road but had to park on the roof since everything is full. I would go again if there is the right entertainment but I would eat somewhere else before next time.
We had the fish and chips and bison burger and thoroughly enjoyed both. The seasoned fries were delicious! We sat on the terrace ... A little tight but very pleasant. Service was perfect: quick and professional! We will definitely go back!
I have been twice for lunch and really enjoyed the food both times. Here's the BUT. on both occasions what we hoped would be a relatively quick meal turned into a prolonged adventure. On the first occasion we waited an excessive amount of time for any employee to return to our side of the restaurant so we could pay. On the second visit, we arrived at noon and were waiting for one person whose order we already knew. After getting our dinks and waiting for twenty minutes we finally asked if we could order. Although we were all done with our menus, perhaps the waitress thought we wanted to wait for our companion. Fair enough. However, the next issue was that the food seemed to come out in waves. Those with curry got their meals first, those with wraps next and last (after an extended wait) the miscellaneous meals arrived. The last two people were not even halfway through their meals when everyone else was done and ready to leave. On both visits I was in a party of eight and perhaps this played a role in the delay but, during the entire hour and fifty minutes we were there, only two other tables sat down. It could also be that this restaurant is part of an interconnected nework of Irish restaurants and perhaps the server was covering next door (the Heart and Crown which seemed much busier). This might explain the delay but it does not excuse it. My views on the service have been the focus of this review because the delay in returning to work caused some consternation for all of us. As a last note on this topic, I should point out that the waitress was very friendly and polite. I also like the small pub atmosphere.I have not said much about the meals but I believe everybody was saisfied. In fact, the most appropos comment may be a quote from one of my fellow diners: "I would come back here anytime for the food but I just can't spend the time".

Love this quaint little pub. Great place to catch up with friends. It's cozy and intimate. Just the place to hang on a cold winter night or to chat with old friends. Food is consistently great!
Peter Devine's, part of the Heart and Crown complex, offers an intimate, cozy pub atmosphere with consistently great food, such as fish and chips and shepherd's pie. Despite some delays in service, the experience was pleasant for many diners, with delicious meals and friendly staff. The small, no-frills pub provides a perfect setting to catch up with friends or enjoy live entertainment on weekends. Overall, Peter Devine's offers excellent and inexpensive dishes, making it a must-visit spot in Ottawa for good food and a cozy ambiance.

I piped in on a whim and decided to grab a quick bite to eat. On the recommendation from the bar tender (Shane Murphy), I decided to try the curry. I was...

I decided to have lunch at a nearby Vietnamese restaurant, but the menu was not appealing and the outdoor seating was too hot. I ended up walking to a different restaurant where the patio was nicely shaded and not too crowded. I later found out that Peter Devine's is actually connected to the Heart and Crown next door, but they have slightly different menus.
I attended an Irish wake at Devine's on a Tuesday and was impressed by the experience. The gourmet sandwiches, fruit, cheese, and other offerings were fresh and abundant. The staff was respectful and discreet, making it a fitting venue for such a solemn occasion. The space can accommodate about 30 seated guests and is part of the Irish Village, which includes other pubs. They serve a delicious Caesar cocktail and are generous with the whiskey. I plan to return for dinner on the patio in the future.
