The rooftop restaurant offers a stunning panoramic view of Ottawa, perfect for cocktails with friends. The selection of snacks is limited and on the pricier side, with inconsistent service but friendly staff. The food quality varies from average dinner options to impressive dishes like lamb poutine and bannock. The modern space in the Andaz hotel provides a chic backdrop for enjoying cocktails and small plates. While reservations may not always be honored, the experience of dining with breathtaking city views makes it worth a visit for a memorable evening out.
The vibe is lively and young. The bar was full of casually dressed locals and tourists. The margaritas were one of the best I've had...and the view of the city is probably one of the one the best.
We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and were blown away by the view. It could be one of the very best in Ottawa, overlooking the market, with the Chateau Laurier, Parliament, National Gallery, and Gatineau all visible in the distance. We had two cocktails, two beers (they have Steamwhistle and a few Beau's options,) the charcuterie platter and the veggie platter. Service was just OK: lots of servers walking by our table, but no one really paying any kind of attention, despite what looked to be a very manageable Saturday afternoon crowd. The platters were OK, though the charcuterie options were nothing special: two chopped up sausages, a couple of standard cheddar and brie cheeses and some crackers. It's really tough to mess up a veggie platter and the beet hummus was tasty. You are most definitely paying a premium for the view: four drinks and two platters came to just under $120 with taxes and tip.
Friendly staff but so so service. Expensive drinks list with a very limited selection of snacks. They need to better clean their champagne flutes though as they must have soap residue -- as sparkling repeatedly came to our table flat with the staff insisting that they were opening new bottles. We were a large group (10 ) and drink service was more or less attentive but it took forever to try to settle our bill. Could be a real go to place if it had a better food selection and better prices. Clientele seems a bit all over the place.
Ok. I have read all the reviews and in truth, I found the staff courteous and trying to help if they could. I saw parents with their young kids there, showing them the magnificent view at night. So let’s sum it up, this is a place to sit back and enjoy the beautiful views of Ottawa, especially in the evening with special people you enjoy. If you are looking for a grand food experience there are better for less money. But if you’re looking for a nice place to sit down, ignore the costs and enjoy the evening with awesome music this is the place to come! I gave it 4 stars, because we ordered 2 drinks, both of them where G&T’s and none of them came with any garnish. I would have thought when you order an $18 G&T it would come with its own unique garnish. But then again, we didn’t care at the end, we realized that like the majority, you come for the view and the amazing lounges with their own fire pits and amazing music to enjoy the evening.
I had been eagerly anticipating the public opening of this restaurant since last year, and we finally had the chance to dine in. The drinks and food were both delicious, and the view of the city was breathtaking. Even though I'm not a fan of cider, I found the Flying Canoe cider to be quite tasty. The shrimp cocktail was good, although it had a typical flavor. The duck confit grilled cheese was exceptionally delicious, and I would highly recommend it to others. Overall, it was a great dining experience and I would definitely visit again.
