I stayed in the hotel so had room service for 3 days, the service was excellent, they were friendly and pleasant, and my food was never more than 10-15 minutes.! the food itself was just mediocre, bacon bland and hard. fruit cup is basically just melon, nachos were gross, steak sandwhich was decent, French toast and waffles were good, smaller portions. We arrived here for breakfast on an off day. It would seem they may have been short-staffed because of the weather that day? However, although it was not busy it took at least 5 minutes for us to be seated. And longer again for our order to be taken. We ordered the breakfast special. It came quickly. Excellent food, a good atmosphere, and a friendly server (Amanda). I had a steak for dinner, and it was cooked perfectly. Yesterday, I had only calamari, and it was delicious.
On June 3, 2023 we held my Dad's celebration of life in the Cafe 1274 restaurant and bar. The food and bar service was excellent, tailored to our group, and little details were added to make the event more meaningful for us and our late Dad, such as providing his favourite Balderson cheddar cheese in the little packets. The service was superb, and the staff went beyond the call. I stay at this hotel (Best Western Ottawa City Centre) a great deal and the restaurant is always top notch for breakfast, brunch and dinner. A real Ottawa gem. they will go the distance for you/your group. Excellent!
My husband is a retired chef and he loves the food at this restaurant. Service can be a bit slow in the restaurant because the staff are busy but they are friendly and helpful.
We had room service. All meals we ordered were delicious. The menu was varied. The service was impeccable. Looking forward to return.
1 1/2 hours to get basic eggs and toast. Orders screwed up (bacon instead of sausage, asked for no mushrooms but cooked in omelet anyways...good thing not allergic). Server was friendly, but no excuse acceptable for bland food and excessive wait times. Will never return or recommend.
