We were looking for a masseria trulli farm with animals, because it's then a real functioning masseria and not just a hotel. This is a popular well known stay among local proprietors. The family has had the farm for many generations and have been extremely resourceful in taking a rustic farm, that was partially dormant, in adding amenties over time to make it very popular among locals. When we were there, they were preparing to host a classic car show. One was truly made to feel as part of the family as there was always help with a smile and never a question about need or the resources to meet it, even helping with laundry and turning it around promptly. Location it's a prime location toward the south end of the trullis. The trulli district spans from Alberobello through Locorotondo to halfway between Martina Franca and Ostuni. This is about 1/3 of the way between Martina Franca and Ostuni. The reason we loved this location is that the trullis dot the lush countryside, and every structure is capped with the trulli architecture, making it magical. We had a car, which made it convenient to get into the different towns for restaurants, shops and touring. Another prime aspect of this location is a rural grocery close by with a deli and a modest restaurant that the locals hang out at, a great place for the flavor of the culture. Be sure to check them out for a Friday night hang out or take out, when they have 2 euro panzerottas the place is packed. Room we were in the nicely appointed Trullo Dragoncello. It was cooler during our time there, and the heat was nicely cranked up to make it very comfortable and toasty. The pool was available but the weather was still cool at the time we were there in order to be comfortable with it. Breakfast: Because it was early season in which we were the only guests the first part of our stay, breakfast was brought to our room and very generous. There were always local fruits, a fruit compote, delicious yogurt, fresh bread, meat and cheese, and freshly baked sweet items. Farm animals: they have three dogs in various life stages, horses, donkeys, cows, chickens, peacocks and of course, cats. The farm is too large to tour by itself, but we got a great feel for it with checking out the free range animals. Thank you Patrizia and family for a great stay, and see you during our next time in Puglia!
A wonderful place that offers everything for families with children: Children can move around independently because everything is fenced. You meet dogs, cats, donkeys and horses. All of them are gentle and can be petted. The breakfast is excellent. There was a nice choice of different products and also fresh fruit. They always changed it up a little so there was a little surprise every time. The hosts are very good people, always available and do their job with joy. In the surrounding area there are many beautiful things to visit: The whole Itria valley with its trulli is wonderful, the Apulian aqueduct you can walk or cycle on, the caves of Castellana, Ostuni and the sea are nearby, the Zoofasano park... There are certainly many other things that we have not yet discovered! Highly recommended for parents.
Wonderful family run farm business that grows, process and cooks their meals on site. They have animals like cows, dogs, chickens and peacocks on the site.
