Description

Perched near the beach in Orewa, this unpretentious, family-friendly eatery is praised for consistently excellent, well-presented food — from seafood and steak to standout ice cream and desserts — and attentive, friendly staff. Popular with groups and families, it offers gluten-free choices and efficient service at the ice cream counter, plus seaside views. A recurring gripe is abrupt recent price hikes and occasional ordering miscommunications, but most guests recommend it for reliably delicious meals and a relaxed atmosphere.

Food is great and the service, which is the reason why I've been going there for some years, but I've got to say that I'm surprised at the price increases for the pollo fettuccine which is what I usually get. Since February when it was $24 it has gone up three times. In March when I visited it went up to $26 and stayed at that price for some months up to my visit on the 3rd August. The next time I went there was on the 20th August and it had increased to $27 which I was still happy to pay but surprised it had gone up yet again. But today I was shocked to be asked to pay $31.50, which is a big price increase and also being one done in less than a month? I'm really not sure why it has gone up yet again and this time so much, as to my knowledge the pollo fettuccine ingredients haven't changed and food prices haven't gone up that much in such a short span of time, so this jump just appears to be plain greedy and one I really don't wish to support. I'd rather go somewhere where the prices stay the same and not jump up regularly in such a short time span so then I'm not left surprised when it comes to pay the bill for the meal. Happy to hear genuine reasons as to the reason why the prices have increased? Thanks
