Great food, I got shrimp fried rice. Very good rice and there was a lot of shrimp in it. I also got the crab rangoon. It was ok, pretty sure there was no crab though. what I didn't like was that it was served with no red sauce, which killed the whole thing.
Im honestly shocked by the reviews. Either people haven't really experienced good food or are lying to you. Honestly some of the worst food I have tried. I gave it a few tries and each time very poor. I hate left over chicken it does have a different taste and when I ordered one of there dishes I could tell it was reheated and not made fresh. The beef is chewy and the ragoons tasted like they were fried in oil that has not been changed in a long time. Chinese food is one of my favorites but this is not good. Honestly the quality of food in this area is poor everywhere which sucks. Drive 10 minutes and get in Madison if you want good food. Also way more expensive than other Chinese.
My family and I have bought food from here many times and it's never consistent. Quality is all over the place. The broth was extremely dark at times, and lighter on others. Same goes for the fried wonton strips, i've had them forget to put any in the bag or only give us one for our entire order. I remember opening a bag and they were floppy and undercooked and the bag was actually sopping wet because the oil they were fried in hadn't dried. For our fortune cookies they've also forgotten to add them to our orders at all plenty of times. Or only give us 1-2. For reference, we order enough food for 3-5 people. We've gotten beef lomaine noodles before and after eating the beef my brother got really sick so we don't order it anymore. Someone else in my family also ordered a dish we didn't usually get and I don't remember what the problem was I only remember offering to cook something else so that he wouldn't be hungry. We actually used to go to a different chinese restaurant but they closed so Moonstar it is.If anyone is reading this to find out if this place is safe to eat/allergy friendly (especially nuts/peanuts) IT IS NOT, of course if you ask they'll say that it is but one ambulance ride later quickly proved them wrong, they're lucky nothing serious happened, that's how people die!!Last time I went here it smelled... bad, thankfully it wasn't that strong but it was similar to the smell you get in a nursing home or your grandma's house, I thought this was weird since restaurants tend to smell like the food the cook so maybe it's one of the ingredients but I wouldn't recommend dining-in if you're sensitive to smellsTLDR: food contamination, food is sometimes undercooked and inedible, don't trust the meat here, the restaurant itself smells kinda bad Dietary restrictions: contaminated food, if you have peanut/nut allergies don't eat here unless you can afford a visit to the hospital
First time here, we have eaten at many Chinese restaurants in Stoughton and Madison and I give this place 5 stars. The food was phenomenal and we had great service. Food was hot and fresh; we dined in. Dining room was clean. The crab Rangoon were completely filled, not those dry ones that have barely any filling and are mostly wonton in all the corners. We won't go anywhere else now. My daughter who is pretty picky (she's 11) loved all of our food and that is a first.
