Not really sure what 's with all the negative reviews, other than it has fairly recently changed hands and is not the same restaurant as before. It 's been 10 years since I was here last, and I do remember it being fine, not enough to compare it towhat it is now. But, this review is based on my most recent dinner experience. And it was overall great! Our waitress was alsoa bartender, and the other bartender also checked in on us. They got busier and still managed to take care of us, too! We tookforever to order so we appreciated the patience and helpfulness. Those ladies were hustling, though! I will say dinner optionsdidn 't seem overly appealing for whatever reason, hence why it took us so long to order, but the appetizers sounded amazing! Somy husband and I opted for a few of those to share for our meals instead. We each started with a caesar salad. My husband had adryer salad and mine definitely had a lot more dressing, but we were both satisfied with those. I actually prefer more dressing. Then we shared several appetizers following the salads. We ordered the calamari, the portion was a bit small, but the breadingwas light and crispy. We also got the 1/2 pound Crab Claws sautéed style (maybe about 30 smaller claws, I had expected fewerand larger ones instead) but they were delicious. Lots of garlic and butter! We also had the Firecracker Shrimp and RockefellerOysters. My husband ordered the Shark bite mixed drink special. He said it was great. I had really wanted Rosé wine, but theydidn 't have much of a wine selection. A few whites and maybe a red. I settled for beer instead. All in all, it was all good andthere were no leftovers!
This place is like an oyster .. kinda rough on the outside but go inside and it's a beautiful pearl! Loved the blackened gator bites and both soups were wonderful (Mixed them together and made a yummy new flavor!! Makenna did a great job and made sure wenever wanted for anything.
Best service we had in Orange Beach. Other restaurants weren't bad, it is just that everyone at Live Bait was amazing. They were professional, friendly, and fast. We watched the guys cleaning tables, and they never stopped. We were so impressed overall thatwe asked to speak to the manager and praised the staff. I figure that since I complain when service is bad, it would be good tocommend when it is top notch. We ordered gator bait bites for an app. They were good. Our table had the grouper tacos, bayounachos, Megalodon platter, and seafood pasta. Those items are pictured. Two of our sons shared the platter and had leftovers.Everything was delicious and filling. 10/10 will eat again.
This was my first time dining at Live Bait. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. I went for lunch after the busy lunch rush, during what’s known as snowbird season, so it was quite quiet and not crowded like in the summer. The building appeared clean. The menu is typical for a seafood spot in this area. I wasn’t really in the mood for seafood unless it was fried crab claws, but those are pretty pricey everywhere right now. So, I opted for the chicken sandwich with fries, which also came with two hush puppies. It was decent—nothing particularly great or bad. The tea had a slightly odd taste, likely due to the sweetener, but it wasn’t unpleasant. Our only issue was that our friends told the waitress they were waiting for two more people, but she didn’t offer them drinks and left them sitting for 20-30 minutes without anything to drink. They had just finished scuba diving and were thirsty, so that was a bit disappointing. Other than that, the service was good.
Honestly, I was quite disappointed as I was expecting a good dining experience. The appetizers were promising, but everything went downhill from there. I didn’t receive the correct order, and many items on the menu were unavailable because “they’re not in the system,” even though they were listed on the menu. The prices felt too high for the quality of the food.
