we had a great experience. Saturday at 9 o'clock, they don't wait. sat on the terrace, over head brandy with fans, so it was nice and cool in summer heat. arturo was our server. he was friendly, personal and very attentive. we ordered the 2 egg breakfast and tiki toast with added eggs and sausage (divided the tiki French toast). everything was delicious and was delivered quickly. heaping portions. word to wise though... What Gino Wilkinson doesn't like about Broken Yolk Cafe:
I don't know if it's the Covid time that changed the standard of this restaurant but for this morning breakfast.... Water down cappuccinos x2 even the 2nd replacement cup was still the same....scrambled eggs that's as pale as a ghost and you can tell it was an imitation egg not a real egg.... We didn't ask for egg whites either just to clarify! I still gave 2 stars just for the Nutella crepe we ordered.... It was goo... View all feedback.
The service was excellent. Our server, Cesar, frequently checked on us, refilled our coffee and water, and made sure we were happy. I ordered the machaca plate, while my wife had the hash skillet dish. Both servings were quite large and well-presented. My only complaint was that both dishes could have used more seasoning—I found myself adding salt and pepper repeatedly. Additionally, I was served flour tortillas instead of corn and had to send them back. Despite these minor issues, I would definitely return to try other dishes.
I absolutely love this place! The breakfast was delicious, but unfortunately, the coffee was burnt.
I hadn’t heard of this restaurant before visiting, but the menu looked promising. All five of us ordered different dishes, but unfortunately, none of us enjoyed our meals. I had the chilaquiles bowl with chicken and eggs, topped with green sauce, but the flavor was off, largely due to the sauce, which had a strong metallic taste—likely because it was canned. My wife ordered the skillet, and like my dish, it was completely lacking in flavor. One of my kids tried the sweet trio; she loved the French toast but found the cinnamon pancake overpowered by too much cinnamon powder. My other two children felt the same way about their meals (the biscuits and gravy and the breakfast burrito). With so many dining options in Orange, this place really didn’t stand out for us. On a positive note, the staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant was clean, and the service was excellent!
Twice I asked about her sweet trio and had the disgust to spit it out. I assume that they do not clean their grill well enough because other aromes are mixed together. I even found a piece of cilantro under the pancake. twice I told their servers about it and they just look stupid. I didn't apologize, it didn't offer to replace it, and much less I offered everything to improve my experience. when I decide to come back, I know that I will not order the same dish as it is clear that they do not know how to cook it.
