Good grill. Some of the best BBQ here... A large pork dish comes with 2 sides (pill and baked beans are good) and 3 pieces of bread and a piece of homemade pound cake (the pound cake makes it complete, lol) The mild BBQ sauce has little to no heat and is good, The hot is not too hot and has a good taste...
I remember when Hook 's in Opp, AL was where Burger King is now. Riga's package store was on the front on the top floor, Hook 's was behind it on the top floor, and the deposit (a bar owned by my best friend 's parents) was located below. As long as I've eaten at Hook. And I have to tell you it's still very good! I go to a big sandwich plate with rice and chips and a big sweet tea (because if you've read ANY from my reviews, you know I love some sweet tea). But this time, I just shake things a little bit. This time I went with a normal pig plate. It consists of 8 ounces of pulled pork, 2 pages (of which I got double rice), pound cake, 2 slices of white bread. I added a big sweet tea and dipped into the bathroom to wash my hands. Before I finished, she gave my lunch to my table! It was great! If I had something nit-pick, it would be that the dirty rice Mr. Don used Hook Stone went the way, so many other wonderful things from the past. It used to be spicy and tasteful and would literally make your head sweat. I don't understand, and it makes me sad. Maybe the recipe changes for the loss of the last owners, I don't know. It's still good, don't get me wrong, but I'm just...
What's going on? I've been going to Birmingham's beach for over 30 years (at least once in summer), and the reason for Opp that exists for me is the bbq near Hook 's. I'm not sure, but I think this is the original hooks (there's in Luverne I think). The meat is always moist and I like the chicken best, although the pig is hard to beat. Your in-law is vinegar-based - my favorite and dirty rice is not to be passed, either-very homemade tasting. Your Brunswick stew is always a good choice in the season. It's some of the best 'que in Alabama!!
I needed a bbq fix in a hurry and found Hook's Bar-B-Q! The pork and the potato salad hit the spot and I was happy again.
