During our last visit we chose a fried mussels with white wine 26 euros and a sole 18 euros. The mussels are excellent and the fried portion is good Thank you. View all feedback.
What Thomas Menu doesn't like about Kombuis:
Shipment service, stifling restaurant room, good quality but badly cooked meat, antipathic waitress, damage I had heard only good. May be overcrowded because victim of their success View all feedback.
This restaurant closed years ago. It was delicious but it is no more. I've reported the closure to google several times. It's really really closed.
Doesn't look like much from the outside, but they serve pretty good food inside. Staff are friendly, and the mussels were really good.
First came here in 2007. Let 's just say I 've been chasing the wonderful flavor of their mosselen frieten since then! Extremely generous portions, fresh mussels, very tasty white wine sauce (numerous other variations are offered), and perfectly cooked fries. They also offer lots of other seafood and meat dishes. We tried the vol-au-vent (chicken with cream sauce in puff pastry) and it was also yummy. Was glad to come back after 5 long years...the flavors were just as amazing, with friendly and prompt service to boot. Cash only!
Best mussels in town. You can choose between natural, white wine, garlic and cream, jambalaya, of the chef, indian style, provencal, kombuis, supreme, maritime and white beer
Kombuis was recommended by friends who happily travel from Brussels all the way to Oostende to eat mussels and fries there. You'll find a simple looking, inelegant, restaurant that you would probably just walk past if unaware of its celebrated kitchen. Indoors is equally unimpressive, with the kitchen the first thing you'll notice as you wait to be seated. The food is the real reason why you'll come here unsophisticated, big portions of food that will satisfy the hungriest of visitors. We had mussels, as you should on a fist visit, and were thoroughly delighted. The fries are not exceptional, but with that amount of mussels you may not even need more than a handful of fries. Open everyday until late, I would definitely recommend Kombuis to anyone who is in Oostende. Mussels, fries and a drink will cost you around 25€.
