First time at Block16 at 5:00 pm the was a long like waiting for thw home cook food we got the block burger ad cragragoon fires, good but very
My first visit, definitely will not be my last! This is my kind of place. Small, locally owned, quality food and a refined smaller menu that they do very well. I came with a friend and we shared 2 burgers and 2 different types of fries. Yes, 2 different types of fries. And there are 3 others if you include the plain ones. The first thing we tried was the Block burger. It has a 1/3 lb. patty with swiss cheese, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. It was very good. The only flaw was that the bun did not hold up to the burger. Maybe if they toasted the bun it would work better. Next we tried the Crogue Garcon burger. It was a 1/3 lb. patty with cheese, ham, mustard, truffle mayo and a sunny side up egg on a ciabatta roll. It was also very good but suffered the same problem with the roll not holding up to the burger. By the time we were done with it the roll had disintegrated. The first type of fries we tried was the poutine. These are covered with cheese curds and then drenched in a very delicious dark brown gravy. Last we tried the Duck, Duck, Goose fries. We saved the best for last. These are a meal unto themselves. Fries covered with a large helping of duck confit, crispy duck skin, cheese, duck fat mayo and gooseberry gastrique. I have never had anything this unique and delicious before. These are worth coming back for just by themselves. The best part is that there are more items on the menu that I want to come back to try. I can say that it will not be a long wait.
