We recently moved to STL county from Houston area, esp. the ShareTEA store, and my teen has missed good boba fruit tea. Today we happened to stop for lunch at LuLu Asian kitchen next door, then walked over to see boba tea offerings here. We were pleasantly surprised to see a logo, menu, decor very similar to ShareTEA. Teen daughter ordered passion fruit tea with boba, and son ordered mixed berry smoothie. Both were very happy with their orders. Glad to finally find good boba and smoothie in STL.
Despite my initial enthusiasm to support a new AAPI restaurant in the Chesterfield Valley, my recent experience left me feeling extremely disappointed. I was the very first customer when they opened, and it was surprisingly quiet for a soft opening. The lack of awareness about their opening was a clear sign of poor marketing on their part. The waitress who served us was a cheerful American girl, which was a pleasant surprise. I shared my positive experience on social media, encouraging friends and family to visit and support the business. However, as time passed and I made several return visits for hot pot, bbt, and dim sum, I noticed a significant change in the service. The friendly young waitresses were replaced by a grumpy middle-aged lady with limited English proficiency. During a recent visit with my family, we encountered this middle age Asian waitress. Despite our polite request to sit by the window, her demeanor was clearly annoyed. When I asked for a specific order, she flatly refused without any explanation. Even when I offered to pay extra for additional toppings, her response was a firm and unwelcoming no. Feeling offended by her attitude, I requested to speak to the manager, but instead, she communicated with him in Mandarin or Cantonese and relayed his refusal back to me. Feeling disrespected and unappreciated, my family and I chose to leave without placing an order. The restaurant lost out on a significant amount of potential revenue due to a simple request for an extra topping. The lack of customer service and communication was truly disappointing. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to dine at this establishment again.
The cake here is absolutely delicious! It's not overly sweet, and the texture is wonderfully soft. I usually prefer cakes that aren't too sugary, so this one is just right for me. I would even suggest that the sugar could be reduced a bit more.
I had just left a nearby restaurant and was drawn to their open door and lights. I used their ordering machine to place a drink order. An employee briefly glanced at me before heading to the kitchen. After placing my order, the machine processed my payment. Moments later, the same employee informed me that they weren’t open yet. I questioned why they would take orders if they weren’t open, but it was evident that they had hired someone who struggled with English. I used Google Translate to ask the employee to call the owner for clarification. Unfortunately, the situation worsened when the owner responded. Instead of providing assistance, they unjustly blamed me and even questioned my decision to place an order. It was absurd! They had their door open, a functioning order machine, and still charged customers, yet I was the one being blamed for using those services. The owner told me I needed to wait an additional 30 minutes to cancel my order because they were not familiar with their own system. I used to visit this restaurant occasionally, but I won’t be returning. Their lack of accountability and poor customer service is truly disappointing.
