Reviews - Grapes
Reviews summary
Grapes presents itself as a classic neighbourhood pub with a lively, family-friendly vibe and a solid lineup of pub grub and drinks. Locals praise the welcoming landlord, steady service even on busy match days, a sunny beer garden and value-driven offers that keep regulars coming back. Food opinions are mixed: many enjoy straightforward, tasty plates like burgers, steaks and southern fried chicken, while others report occasional overcooking, saltiness and small portions. Cleanliness and upkeep have been flagged at times, particularly in washrooms and menus. Overall Grapes feels like a revived community hub — warm and convivial, with room for consistency improvements.

The restaurant was extremely unclean, with dirty tables and drink mats that appeared to be very old. The menus were also filthy. I do not plan on returning to this establishment.
I visited this restaurant for lunch on Good Friday with my grandson. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the Southern fried chicken burger I ordered was delicious. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.
The food was simple but decent. It was what we expected. The restaurant/bar and bathrooms were a bit worn out, especially the men's restroom. The staff did a great job considering the large number of customers, including a funeral and an England football match. Would I return? Maybe.
Food basic but tasty. Portions small we had mushy peas but it was literally a dessert spoonful and a very small portion of chips. Possibly because the plates are small! Service and staff good and atmosphere lively.

I 've been here a few times. It 's a nice enough pub, with a good range of ales. The staff are friendly enough, and the drinks are decently priced. It 's always quite busy and popular among the locals. But I had a bit of a frustrating experience the other day. Me and a friend of mine were walking my dog. It began to rain so we decided to grab a drink somewhere whilst it settled down. We were near the grapes, so I whipped out my phone and googled whether dogs were allowed in the pub. Online it says a child and dog friendly pub... and that dogs [are] allowed inside . I thought brilliant, me and my mate can grab a quick pint whilst we wait for the rain to stop. We go in the pub. Nobody says a word or bats an eye lid. We buy our drinks and go to sit down. As soon as we sit down, the landlady comes over, and, very politely, says dogs are not allowed in the pub. I have no problem with this. A lot of pubs don 't allow dogs in because they can be noisy, dirty, and some people just don 't like dogs. It 's totally fair enough. But it was frustrating because it meant we then had to stand outside in the rain and the cold. The information online is clearly out of date and needs changing. I just thought I 'd do a review to give other dog walkers a heads up, and make the owners aware that the online information is incorrect. The pub itself though is nice enough though. I 'll definitely go again but next time I 'll have to leave the dog at home.
The food here is excellent value. Especially the little bucket snacks of chicken, scampi and chips etc. Portion sizes are good and the food is well cooked. Good choice of beer and wine at a good price. Can be a bit noisy if the bar is just but to be honest it's great to see a local business doing so well. Will definitely be back soon.
Great turn around from the new owners it's actually a nice pub to sit in now! Good pub grub and the landlord is always welcoming. We're happy to have this as our local now!
We came here a few weeks ago and it has become a regular place to go for food, drinks and a good atmosphere. The menu has a good variety and the tapas menu is great. Staff are always welcoming and friendly.

I took myself and my heavily pregnant daughter here today as she needs a hot lunch but never has time due to working in a school. We both live opposite ends of this lovely pub so I suggested here today. Barmaid was warm and friendly. I ordered our food and was asked before it came if we had what we needed. Let me say the food was gorgeous. Made fresh when you order. Will be back, in fact next week for a family meal. If you want a quiet local friendly pub that welcomes kids come along. And the food is 'da bomb '
Felt rushed Told we had 5 minutes to order food Tables sticky and dirty Food all quick fried, not fresh Wouldn’t revisit
Visited here a couple of times for my Grandmas birthday and each time we have been served quickly and with delicious hot food. Very family friendly and good prices
Go with all te family you will be very welcome food and drink and prices to come back for cosy pub with a great beer garden plent of space
The food is very good value for money pub grub, served quickly and with a smile. Drinks are well priced and the bar staff are welcoming. The landlord is busy but still has time to say hello and check that everything is ok. We have been here a few times for food and have not been disappointed. Will be back.

Brilliant and helpful staff, massive parking and beer garden, food was nice and very cheap
Had a nice food service and food was really good, just a little disappointed that the restaurant room was not open can not get to the reason why, so the only quiet area to eat because football was on the TVs, what was the rooster room. Will go again, but will check before hand whether the conservatory/restaurant room is open in front of hand.
A nice evening with great food. Very accommodating. Offer a quieter table when we sat next to a large group with a really good time. Serves delicious food to match the nutritional preferences. Can't blame!
The people and employees of the Grapes were brilliant that Open Table did not open and runs here So when we came in and said we had booked a table, they looked a little confused, but we were well done to them.
