It's not cheap; a pasta dish can ea... read more For our visit to Oldenburg, we picked a nice restaurant online and chose the Carusi. The menu is small, clear, and creative. It's not cheap; a pasta dish can easily cost €25, but we're happy to pay for good food. Booked online, table for two at 5 p.m. We arrived at the restaurant, but the kitchen doesn't open until 5:30 p.m. We would have liked to have been informed in advance. We cooled down until then with a delicious rose prosecco, but then got our meals quickly. A rather green salad to start with, which is a shame given what the greengrocers have to offer in mid-October. The pea gnocci were inspiring; I liked them a lot. The tagiatelle with chanterelle mushrooms in cheese and orange sauce was a disappointment. Hardly any cheese, but so much orange oil that it irritated the eyes at first. The kitchen completely overdid it here. The wine was good and recommended, but the service was completely chaotic. The food was mediocre and far too expensive for the (partial) kitchen management. Drinks were good, and the service couldn't be improved. It was cozy, so it still gets a respectable 4 stars.

The small, changing lunch menu sounds very delicious. Both the Bolognese and the gnocchi were excellent. The owner, who also waits the table himself, was very friendly and prompt. The price/performance ratio was absolutely perfect. A truly fantastic location in Oldenburg.
