Osteria Ohakune

I drove here from the national park in search of a good meal. Although my first choice was closed for the holidays, I found this place open and noted some positive reviews. We placed a to-go order for pasta, and the staff informed the kitchen while marking everything gluten-free. It was absolutely delicious! They did recommend avoiding the pizza, but assured me that the pasta would be safe to eat.

The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and eager to assist. I felt very confident dining there, and the gluten-free pasta was delicious.

We decided to dine at Osteria based on local recommendations, and we found a wide range of options. Almost all the pasta dishes could be made gluten-free, as well as the risottos and a gluten-free pizza base, along with various main course selections. There were only a few dessert options available. My husband, who has celiac disease, and I both ordered the risotto, which was excellent. My daughter, who also has celiac, enjoyed a gluten-free margherita pizza; she mentioned that the crust was a bit doughy but still delicious. The staff was considerate and kept her pizza separate from my other daughter's non-gluten-free pizza when we asked to take our leftovers. I felt safe dining there, and we experienced no adverse effects afterward.

No gluten free information on the menu, but plenty of options available and helpful and knowledge staff. Excellent food. We had the beef cheeks delicious!
