Mountain Rock Cafe - Ohakune

This worked out better than any other restaurant in town that we first looked to go to after a day of skiing, but couldn't bc the others were all booked. We found a large table for 9 that happened to be open, they have beer, they have ribs, they have Rugby on 2 TVs and the audio dedicated to the game, andddd they have a great seafood chowder (heavy on the prawns, not on the mussels but you can order a platter of mussels too).

Stopped for lunch on our way up to Auckland. Ohakune is a beautiful township with fantastic mountain views. For lunch we had the large narchos and a basket of fries, both of which were great for a hungry family!

We had good coffee yummy sweets. the staff is friendly. nice ambiente with cute decorations.

Great place to eat. Staff are good and quick service.

The staff recommended us a gingerbread latte. Not something I’ve had before but they seemed very passionate so we tried. So pleased I did! Free whipped cream too and Christmas themed. They were so happy to help. Way better than Starbucks
