The place looks a bit anonymous from the outside, but the staff and the food quality are great. Very good quality of the food and polite staff.
My colleague and I were here without reservation recently a lunch and were immediately led to one of the large wooden table tables outside. We started ordering some cyclists (Shandy) and then checked the one side of the lunch offers. My companion went for a vegetarian house made pasta dish that she felt was OK, but there was missing any special je ne sais quoi taste. I had the liver cheese on a small bed of fried potatoes and crowned with a fried egg. That came with a little salad. Also nice enough, but nothing excellent to write at home (or at Tripadvisor) about... Service was fast and friendly. Anyway, the location, right in the Belgian countryside was beautiful. One more thing. There are plenty of free parking that was great.
My ex-employe suggested that we do not meet for an informal lunch recently after the COVID rules and regulations were partially relaxed in Germany. The bench seats outside on the terrace under the trees were very well visited, especially those of the silver haired generation. I ordered the local Bergische Landbier Vom Fass (Drahtbier) and chose the asparagus with Sause Hollandaise and a selection of ham. Very nice. We finished our meal with espresso and then drove for an afternoon of work (at least in my case). Service was friendly while I love it when the waiters look forward to a bit harmless, jovial banter... Oh, there are plenty of free parking and beautiful views of the fields. Fine.
The place is charming and the staff beautiful. They don't talk too much about English or other languages than German, but they are so nice. And the food is definitely top rated: the duck breast is perfectly boiled, served with parsley root (which I discovered and it is excellent) savory sauce and a tile from parmesan, the presentation in the dish could come from a 3 star restaurant restaurant. The single room under the roof is very clean and comfortable for a short stay, a bit small for a longer one. Think to turn the heat while you have dinner, it is not heated while empty during the day.
