Reviews - Howard's Pub
Reviews summary
Howard's Pub offers a lively atmosphere with a unique decor of license plates and a promising beer selection. While many guests appreciate its vibrant setting, opinions on the food and service vary significantly. Some diners rave about the fresh seafood, including fried shrimp and flounder, while others find the offerings bland and overpriced. Service can be hit-or-miss, as experiences range from attentive to lacking warmth. Despite these inconsistencies, the appeal of Howard's Pub as a must-visit restaurant after arriving on the island remains undeniable. With its scenic location and charm, it's definitely worth a stop on your culinary journey.

We always stop at Howard's Pub when we're in Ocracoke. It never disappoints! See y'all next year!!
The food was excellent, and the tuna bites were absolutely delicious—you definitely need to give them a try! Plus, the bartenders are really fun to chat with.
I found person who seated us rude, and person who waited on us to be unfriendly!
Dinner was fantastic! However, charging $4.50 for a domestic draft beer feels a bit outrageous. I understand it's a vacation destination, but that's quite a markup.

An absolute must! you made it to the island! you have to meet howards pub! I have to be honest, eating has bleeded us away. when they are in the mood for a burger, they visit the carolina burger! also our server christian was great. it will be busy, so either they come there early or plan a wait, but it is worth it!
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and I enjoyed the beer selection. However, I was not pleased when a large group of 12 people arrived and the restaurant was empty. Despite this, they did not allow us to sit until our entire party had arrived.
The Bloody Mary at Awesome's is top-notch, complete with all the fixings. They also serve one of the best cheeseburgers, delicious steamed shrimp, and hush puppies. I sat at the bar and the bartender was fantastic.
Without question this is a must to stop when they find their own in ocracoke island. not only eating, but the overall experience was amazing. I wish I had made more photos. customer support, attention, keeping our tables clear and getting drinks, server was on point. the raw oysters have not disappointed from their fan. the thunfish, the fish of the day, was so delicious and perfectly cooked, I am ready to go back. they owe their own to check this place when they visit the island.

Super fast friendly service. Love the decor and ambience. Definitely a must stop for a cold beer and great meal.
Amazing!! I had the fried shrimp, clams, and fresh flounder. I will definitely be returning tomorrow evening for dinner because it was that good! The flounder was so fresh and the hand-cut fries were a nice touch.
The food was delicious. I had the clam strips which were a great reminder of childhood. The bar has a funky beach vibe. The group I went with spent some time looking for college flags and everyone found their and their kids. The service was friendly.
An Ocracoke staple. Local food favorites. Good selection of beer. Staff is always friendly and on point. A good pit stop before the ferry.

We usually make it a point to visit this restaurant whenever we're in Ocracoke because the food is typically delicious and reliable. However, during our last visit, we found that some of the clam strips were undercooked and had raw batter. The macaroni and cheese was also lacking in flavor. On a positive note, the crab and shrimp dip appetizer was definitely a standout.
A must-visit spot in Ocracoke! The local cuisine is amazing, but be ready for a wait, especially with a larger group. Since this is the first restaurant you encounter after arriving on the Ocracoke ferry, it tends to get very busy during ferry arrival times.
We've been visiting the island for 15 years, and this was our first experience at Howard's Pub. Even though it was a busy day, we were seated right away. The food and service were exceptional. Just a word of advice: be ready to spend a bit! A kids' meal with two chicken tenders and four hush puppies is priced at $12.
