Reviews - O'Connell Hotel
Reviews summary
The O'Connell Hotel offers a mix of experiences, from delightful meals enjoyed by a warm fire in winter to gathering with friends in a lively atmosphere during the summer. While some patrons were pleased with the reasonable prices and generous portions, others felt the management let the historic venue fall into disrepair. One unfortunate visitor even reported encountering dirty facilities and unprofessional behavior from staff. However, for those seeking a charming pub meal in a picturesque setting off the beaten track, the newly renovated O'Connell Hotel may still hold its appeal with quality food, quick service, and ample outdoor seating.

Enjoyed a family dinner at the O 'Connell Hotel when in Bathurst recently. We did have a seperate room to all sit together inn in this Covid Era. Meals were adequate but only fair quality pub food . I can believe the place would be great for weekend lunches sitting outdoors as the locals told us. The location just out of Bathurst is also great. View all feedback.
What Kym M dislikes about O'Connell Hotel:
NOT RECOMMENDED. Recently I stopped and had a meal at this establishment. I was with 2 other colleagues and we were scouting for stops for their upcoming motorcycle tours. When we ordered our meals we were not told how long they would take to prepare. We assumed that it would be a reasonable amount of time. After an hour I asked a young male server how much longer we would have to wait and his reply was ‘I don’ know’... View all feedback.

Lovely hotel. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. Once we ordered lunch for a large group the service was fast and furious and was impressed that basically everyone 's lunch turned up within a few minutes so we got to eat together. The salads, burgers, fish and chips all went down a treat and the only and this is a personal opinion that didn 't was the pizza was not much fun. It was more a 'melt ' with too much sauce and cheese and difficult to eat made worse by only having a single sheet of paper serviette to clean up with. For the record that was the only thing I faulted and why I couldn 't give five stars....I give you 4.75 stars. Go visit you won 't be sorry Noteworthy details: Lots of History Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Kid-friendly, Great value

After an hour I asked a young male server how much longer we would have to wait and his reply was ‘I don’ know’ and he then walked off. What he should have said is ‘just a minute and I’ll find out’. Over 1 ¼ hours later our meals arrived. When we ordered the young lady would have known how long our meals would take to prepare and she should have informed us. As for the young man’s response, well what can I say about that.
Forgot to bring my order with tables other meals. Hastily reheated a meal which was terrible with cold and lumpy watered down mashed potato. Will never return
Really nice pub that offers plenty of choices for sitting and relaxing. Huge outdoor area, log fires throughout the 3 rooms and very friendly staff. The food is really good, dishes are large and they appear to be famous for their schnitzels, whether it be plain, Mexican or Parmigiana. Steak Sandwhich was great, lamb cutlets was OK bit pricey $26 for two cutlets and they were a bit oily so that was the only negative. I would certainly go back (but I will give the cutlets a miss).
