Consistently good Mexican food good margaritas. Nice menu variety with Vegetarian options. The mole enchiladas is one of our favorites, they have good salsa chips as well. The service has always been good even out on the patio. It can be busy during lunch dinner hours, but it's better midweek. Outside patio seating available with space heaters. We just visited 3 weeks ago. New Menu new prices, much higher than expecte... What Alika C doesn't like about Old Juan's Cantina:
I've eaten here a few times now. Overall, it's a good spot and not super overpriced. The food is decent, but not a super high quality restaurant. If you want great comfort food dining near the beach, this is your place. We had friendly service but not 100% accurate orders received. No struggles fixing issues. Tons of chips and salsa. Verrrry disappointed. Both of us ordered a bowl of menudo and asked for a pig foot on the side. To our surprise the waitress brings out 2 small size bowls with about 8 ozs. with mostly juice, he got 3 pieces of homoney. I got 2. A few pieces of tripe. The pig foot was IN the same bowl as our menudo which was ONLY bone, no meat at all. And to top it off, it was $13.50 each. When we left, we stopped in Oceano to get something to eat bc we were hungry.Bar tender was nice and cocktails were good.

Margarita, I swear, was a virgin Margarita even though we ordered it with their silver tequila. I ordered the fish tacos which always arrived quickly and were pretty tasty too. The dining experience matches the price. We fed 3 adults, 1 teen, and a 2 year old for around $120, including 2 large margaritas. Parking: Small lot Kid-friendliness: Kids menu, high chairs Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp to outdoor patio
This place is not what most people would think it is. We live three miles away and, at first glance, it might appear like your standard American-Mexican restaurant, where one would find gorgeous mounds of beans and cheese and sour cream and whatnot. This is not this place at all.Whoever is creating the menu and making the food here is top notch and knows what they're doing. It's a semi-fine-dining restaurant in disguise as your local Mexican joint. For example, they have tacos and flautas with calabasa, and the salsa with them is riduclously tasty. I ordered their Mexican Pizza for the first time yesterday, and it was piled high with peppers, mushrooms, kernal corn, well-made shredded beef, along with the usual accompaniments. They have the traditional Mexican dishes as well, but they aren't greasy or thrown together; it's all made with care and class...even if it's to go. They have hipster-like margaritas in all sorts of flavors, cocktails to boot, and the bartenders are on it. And the best part? They don't skimp. It is reasonably priced and you get lots of bang for your buck.Simply put, it's quite good.
Very flavorful food and great atmosphere. We like to sit outside on the patio.
Short version: Plastic saran wrap found in Enchilada. 0/10 would not recommend eating here.Service was good, and the atmosphere is clean and relaxed.Food: Chips Dip were pretty good.Guacamole: Had the small for $10.29 and it's alright. It isn't much different from the stuff you could get from a local grocery store.Jalapeno Poppers: I don't recall the price, but absolutely not worth it. There is very little cheese in the jalapenos, and they were surprisingly bland and tasteless.Carnitas: Presentation makes it look quite fancy, but they aren't as crispy as expected. Bland, and more fatty pieces than I'd of liked. It comes with rice and beans which were good. The flour tortillas were dry and tasted stale, as of they'd been reheated a few times after being forgotten about.Combo Plate with Chili Relleno, Enchilada, and a Taco: large portion, ended up taking half of it home to eat. The Chili Relleno tasted not fresh, as if it had been frozen and then reheated. Taco was a step up from Taco Bell, but not something I'd really recommend. There was a chunk of plastic that looked like saran wrap embedded in the enchilada. Didn't find the plastic until getting home. Rice and beans were good.
