Maheno Tavern - Oamaru

Now known as Purtons Cafe and Bar. I had driven past this place which is tucked neatly beside state highway 1 hundreds of times over the years but never been there. Finally on a motorbike run last week this was the destination. Had a cold drink and some hot chips which we very tasty. 10/10! The staff were friendly and it was warm and well laid out. I will definitely be visiting here again in the future.

If you're near Oamaru and hungry then stop in here. Friendly staff. Great food. Not just large servings but well cooked and tasty. Gluten free burgers available too. And great value. Will definitely eat here again

If you like 'homely this is the place! Sleeping cat and welcoming pooch with lovely service, chat, coffee and most excellent baking! Peanut brownies and tan slice delicious!

Nice quiet spot for a game of pool and a beer.. one of the best toasted sandwiches I've ever had ,would definitely recommend. I'd love to come back here again
