**Restaurant Review: Otaez, Oakland - A Mixed Bag of Experiences** Otaez offers a vibrant atmosphere, friendly staff, and an extensive menu that reflects the spirit of Mexican cuisine; however, experiences vary widely. While some patrons praise the generous portions and nostalgic flavors, like the red pork tamales reminiscent of home-cooked meals, others lament slow service and inconsistent food quality, particularly with items like pozole and burritos. The ambiance is lively, but cleanliness and attention to detail have raised concerns. With street parking and daily specials, Otaez invites diners to explore, yet discretion is advised for those seeking a fine dining experience.

Was Robert K at Otaez Mexican a mag?
Otaez offers the best Mexican food in Oakland. I always order the red pork tamales à la carte, and they remind me of how my grandmother used to make them. I also get a side of beans and rice, which are delicious and provide enough for at least two additional meals. They keep me satisfied for lunch, dinner, and even late-night snacks. I highly recommend trying them out! View all feedback.
What Dimitrios Meier dislikes about Otaez Mexican:
As soon as me and my finance walked in we were greeted with grins from all the customers and staff who had on NO MASKS, then while the waitress was on her phone we had to grab someone 's attention to give us our food. While I 'm trying to get some extra salsa togo this rude lady 's says, don 't touch that I already put some in for you. It was just really embarrassing and I will never ever eat there again. And don 't... View all feedback.
The burrito was enormous and absolutely delicious. I really appreciate that this restaurant took the time to read and fulfill my special request. They also offered a generous amount of salsa, which is often not the case at many Mexican and Latin restaurants. Overall, it was a fantastic value!

I always order the red pork tamale with beans and rice. It tastes just like my grandmother used to make. The portion is generous enough for two meals, and I'm quite the eater! I also frequently get their freshly made tortillas.
Blandest Mexican food ever, my white MIL even said it had no taste. Good if you load up on the hot sauce
