The pro's of this store: It's located right in Montclair Village and has a nice assortment of candies and chocolates. The people who work there are usually friendly and helpful. The cons: Things are WAAAAY overpriced. I recently bought a certain kind of Jelly Belly candy for a party from another store. I like the candy, but the gelato is awful. It's extremely gluey and way too sweet. It's nothing like the gelato in Italy and I feel like the gelato they sell at eveb Safeway is better.
The chocolates and candy at this restaurant are really good. However, I had a negative experience when I brought my 95-year-old mother-in-law here for her birthday. The young woman working at the counter made a thoughtless comment about my mother-in-law's age, which made the whole interaction uncomfortable and awkward. It seemed like the girl was having some sort of breakdown, and it definitely put a damper on our visit.
I paid nearly $20 per pound for jelly beans at this restaurant! That's double the price you would pay if you bought them directly from Jelly Belly. The store itself is charming, but the exorbitant mark-up is unacceptable. The counter person was unfriendly and didn't even acknowledge my greeting, making the experience even more disappointing. Overall, I would not recommend this place.
Wonderful candy and Gelato store in the Montclair district of Oakland.
This place has a great selection of sweets chocolate and novelty goodies I love it here
