No parking, prepare to park further away and walk. We came during closer to lunch hours so it was not too crowded luckily. The staffs do tag team and work extremely fast. Walk in, no sit down. Ham Egg Roll: 5/5, easily. Would always come back just to try this again.Morning Bun: 5/5, soft and flakey Cheese roll: 2/5, not the typical American type of cheese roll. It was melted cheese on top of a very dry sourdough-like... View all feedback.
This hidden gem of a bakery is nestled in inner Berkeley, right next to the Fairmont Hotel. We tried the croissants, scones, and a few other items, and everything was delicious! The walnut scone was particularly noteworthy; it isn’t overly sweet, allowing the nutty flavor to really shine through. Its distinct taste sets it apart from offerings at other bakeries!
The croissants are exceptional! I also enjoyed their baguettes. The almond croissants are excellent as well.
The pastries were outstanding; the croissants were incredibly flaky and rich in buttery flavor. The canelè featured a crisp shell and a soft, tender interior, packed with vanilla essence. I highly recommend these two items. The morning bun, however, leaned towards the sweeter side and could use a bit more cinnamon to create better balance. It's worth mentioning that the items were packaged in a rather casual manner—some might even describe it as sloppy—as they overlapped within the bag. I would have preferred them to be arranged more neatly. However, the overall quality of the food makes it easy to overlook this issue.
Best bakery in the east bay. Everything is great but we particularly like the ham and egg croissant and the plain croissant. Also awesome that they sell half loaves. Prices are pretty great too we got 8 things for $34. There’s usually a line but it moves pretty quick at 830 on a Sunday it was about 10 15 minutes long.
