Dee Spot - Oakland
Dee Spot
Description
Nestled in a community bustling with potential, this café offers a mix of breakfast and lunch options, though not without its challenges. Patrons frequently mention the uneven quality of bagels and sandwiches, often critiquing their blandness and lack of creativity. Despite the service struggles stemming from recent staffing difficulties, there are bright spots, notably their delicious chilaquiles and generously sized sandwiches. While the atmosphere is inviting—with free Wi-Fi and a cozy reading corner—there's a sense of nostalgia for the restaurant's former glory. As the establishment navigates post-pandemic hurdles, diners are reminded to offer kindness and patience during their visits.

Feedback
I visited this restaurant a few months ago for breakfast and was disappointed with the sandwich I ordered. I expected more than just a slice of bread, egg, and bacon for $8. The sandwich lacked veggies, dressing, or sauce, making it dry and unsatisfying. The coffee was also disappointing in both price and quality. Despite the lackluster breakfast options, this place could still be a good spot to hang out with friends or do some work. It's unfortunate to see the decline in quality over the past year, as I had heard good things about this place before. Hopefully, they can improve their menu and bring back the flavors and variety they were once known for. For now, I would not recommend coming here for breakfast, but perhaps just for a change of scenery or to grab a cup of coffee.
I recently began working nearby, so I decided to order from this restaurant on DoorDash. I was very pleased with my experience. Although they did not offer an iced chai option, I requested it in the notes and they were able to accommodate my request. The bagel with banana and peanut butter was delicious. I will definitely be ordering from this place more frequently in the future.
The everything bagel with lox is fantastic. The breakfast sandwich on Texas toast is exactly how a breakfast sandwich should be - a little greasy and very flavorful. It seems like they may be dealing with some business closures in the area, as they are a bit understaffed and trying to minimize food waste by baking less. However, I don't mind at all, and I believe it is even more reason to support this wonderful little restaurant.
Not sure what happened in the last year but quality seems to have gone down. Paid $8 for a slice of bread, egg, and bacon :(Coffee from the large vat of beans/hot water is similarly priced and quality. Great place to hangout but maybe not for breakfast(Nope no veggies or dressing or sauce)
