Description
Tucked beside a major shopping center, this modern hotel impresses with clean rooms, friendly staff and a rooftop dining scene that offers great sunset views. Spacious suites, attentive bartenders, in-room coffee pods and complimentary bottled water elevate many stays.
Drawbacks include noisy events, spotty parking, occasional service hiccups (water shutoffs, slow app responses) and limited in-room amenities; centralized HVAC and inconsistent morning coffee can also affect comfort. Best for shoppers, business travelers and guests who prioritize location and atmosphere over flawless logistics.

I stayed here for a work event. The lobby is very nice and modern. Check in was easy and I got a room earlier than I expected. My initial room was small and cramped which was surprising since it’s a Le Meridien. You expect something normal in size and good quality when staying at this brand. The front desk was kind and offered to switch me to another room which was better. The rooms are clean and comfortable except in one aspect. You can’t control the temperature. In the winter they only have heat and summer air conditioning. So it’s feast or famine. That’s a big shocker as even lower grade hotels I’ve stayed at had modern climate controls. The room is very hot and there is no way to get fresh air which did not help with my sleep. A manger was very apologetic and brought up a fan which cooled it down slightly. Overall an okay stay which was greatly helped by the staff.
The parking availability is poor. Hotel patrons are competing for spots with the very popular Oak Brook Center shopping center. I circled for 20 minutes and finally wound up in the shopping mall garage on Saturday evening. Room 816 not recommended if there’s an event. There’s a wedding tonight so I have loud music overhead that the front desk tells me “should” be over “soon” (at midnight) in 2.5 hours. I was offered ear plugs but don’t want to use them.
The staff was friendly, the hotel is very conveniently located, and it's clean. The rooms are comfortable and fairly standard—nothing particularly remarkable. I did appreciate the in-room coffee pods, which were definitely a bonus. Unfortunately, the quality of sleep wasn't great; they use very cheap pillows, which is disappointing considering they're aiming for a more upscale experience. I was thankful for the generous supply of complimentary water in my room as well. Overall, my three-night stay was solid. I would say the Hyatt House down the street offers a similar experience in terms of room quality, sleep comfort, cleanliness, and service. However, it lacks the excellent coffee pods and does not provide access to a rooftop bar or spa services.
This hotel has an ideal location, situated roughly halfway between O’Hare and Wrigley. Depending on the time and day, you can easily find an affordable Uber ride to either destination. It's also within walking distance of several excellent restaurants. Le Meridian is clean, modern, and located in a secure area. Our room on the second floor was equally clean and modern. The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only drawbacks I noticed were the lack of complimentary coffee in the morning, some noise at night, and the mattress was so comfortable that it made me realize how uncomfortable my mattress at home is!
Negatives: The hotel allows rowdy parties on the 9th floor, which made it impossible to sleep on the 4th floor. Ironically, there’s a sign near the elevator (see photo) stating that quiet hours are from 9 PM to 9 AM. However, Sophie’s party with dancing lasted until 11:30 PM, and we were completely unaware of this when we checked in. We called the front desk around 10:30 PM to complain, and they mentioned they were starting a list of guests who were having issues and would ask the party to lower the volume. The bass was so loud that we could still hear the music over the TV and our heater. And who would have thought we'd need a heater in a hotel like this in Oak Brook? They explained that the HVAC system is centralized, so we couldn’t control the temperature with the thermostat in our room. On the bright side, they mentioned this is a common complaint, so they keep heaters available for winter guests and fans for summer. Seriously? I’m glad you’re prepared, but come on! Another downside: because of the party and the lack of notice, the restaurant was closed. We were okay with room service, but the menu was limited due to the event. It seems Sophie got all the good food that night. Positives: They offered us water at check-in, and the food we could order from room service was quite good. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the space heater worked well.
