Reviews - Five Chris Catering
Reviews summary
Tucked into Nutley, this cozy one-floor Filipino spot serves authentic dishes—kare kare, pork specialties, and hearty breakfast combos—at reasonable prices. Known for friendly staff and reliable catering and delivery, it's popular for events and offers generous portions. Expect a quiet, intimate atmosphere and limited adjacent parking (street parking likely). Note some inconsistency: afternoon/evening offerings may be leftovers and food or service quality has varied; occasional lapses in on-site hygiene were reported.

On December 10, 2021, at 5:30 PM, I decided to try this restaurant, hoping for a good meal. Upon entering, I noticed they required patrons to wear masks. If you’re getting a $10 meal, you also need to wear plastic gloves while serving yourself. The Filipino food here is incredibly delicious, especially if you enjoy pork dishes, as they offer a wide variety. The restaurant is small and quiet, creating a friendly atmosphere.
It's a cozy eatery located on one floor in Nutley. I recall really enjoying their kare kare, which is one of my favorite dishes featuring oxtail. The flavors are authentic and delicious. I also noticed they offer a variety of Filipino breakfast options, including combinations of fried egg, rice, and meats like longanisa and hotsilog. In terms of parking, there are a few spots available in the small lot adjacent to the building, but you're more likely to need to find street parking if you drive there.

However, I found it quite ironic that the cashier, who was responsible for serving to-go orders, was not wearing gloves and, even more concerning, wasn’t wearing a mask at all. To make matters worse, she was coughing without covering her mouth. I should note that the owner, Vicky, was not present during my visit. Additionally, I found that the food available in the afternoon and evening is often leftover from earlier in the day, so don’t expect a fresh meal from this place.
Delicious Philippine cuisine with authentic flavors. I’ll definitely be returning!
Every time i go here i get a different experience some good some bad, not only the food is usually cold that i had to heat up in microwave when i get home which is close to this place, the price changes without proper signage, combo meal that was $6 became $7 within days of me coming here. i should've walked out and not pay and take food since i noticed she didn't even give me a decent size of fried chicken which she carefully went through the batch that was on display. i rather go to a different place and get more for my money. notice the 2 small chicken pieces...smh
