Studio23 Cafe - Nottingham
Studio23 Cafe
Description
The restaurant, formerly known as Time Out Cafe, has moved and rebranded. The food, while decent, doesn't quite live up to expectations set by photos. The decor is lacking cleanliness, with uninterested staff and dirty windows. However, the menu offers a variety of Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese dishes, making it a potential spot for Instagram-loving customers. Other reviewers found the food delicious and commendable, especially the octopus balls, wasabi squid, and spicy chicken dishes. Some expressed disappointment with the flavors, but prices are reasonable. Overall, the atmosphere is cozy and inclusive, making it a favorite spot for many in Nottingham.

I had heard a lot about this restaurant so I decided to give it a try to see if the reviews were accurate or just paid for marketing. The menu offered a variety of Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese dishes. While the dishes looked appealing for taking Instagram photos, I found them to not be the most authentic or flavorful. The service was okay, but it seemed like the staff was more attentive to Asian students, which was a bit frustrating. Overall, my visit was decent but not as amazing as others had made it out to be. The prices were reasonable, but the decor was a bit lacking, with tables needing a clean and the floor needing attention. While the food looked better than it tasted, it would be a good spot for younger, Instagram-loving customers.
I visited this restaurant when it was known as Time Out Cafe and decided to give it another try after it was renamed and relocated. The food was decent, but didn't quite match the pictures and some ingredients were missing. The staff seemed uninterested in cleaning the tables and the journey to the restroom felt like climbing up to someone's apartment. The windows were dirty and the carpet on the stairs was messy. Overall, the floor was in poor condition.
We 've been coming here a lot lately, and it is now a favourite. As others have said, the decor is more 'not quite finished ' rather than 'shabby chic '. The food is a mixture of Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese all delicious, and quite cheap for the centre of Nottingham. You order and pay at the counter. There 's a good selection of what the wee man calls 'weird drinks ' this is apparently a good thing. I usually have an (excellent) pot of green tea.
We’ve passed this place a few times and it’s been full. We had a delicious meal, a mix of tapas and a main. We had the octopus balls, wasabi squid and tofu, then the spicy chicken and pork dishes. All were incredible in their own way, we’ll definitely be returning and I’d recommend to anyone
