My partner and I both had a lovely meal at Amble Inn; mixed grill and truffle spinach topped chicken breast in a mushroom sauce. Both meals were delicious, excellent quality. Staff welcoming and attentive throughout. Highly recommend. View all feedback.
What Spencer doesn't like about The Amble Inn:
Restraunt empty on arrival my friend ordered first as we were paying separately .. then we ordered.. they forgot about my friends so they had to wait to eat.. Soft drinks as we were driving.. £3:95 for a coke way over priced.. Food was below average and chips were cheap and frozen .. won’t be back.. shame as ambiance nice and a good out side area.. Visited on a Saturday evening with friends. On entry there were no staff to greet or direct to dining area, so we walked in and spoke to a young lady cleaning tables. She advised to find an empty table anywhere, so we settled on a raised area overlooking the front entrance to the hotel. After we had sat down and began to look at the menu dogs began barking at several tables in this area, and we then noticed dog bowls were under some tables. Now I fully understand that establishments now have dog friendly areas but it would have been nice if the staff member had pointed this out, as we could see no signage. Went to the bar to,order some food and drinks. The girls who served us had the most unfriendly, unpleasant couldn’t care less attitude I have encountered in many a year. Provided no information on drinks availability, and to cap it all, when I paid the bill simply handed my card back and walked away. No receipt given or even offered! There was a man at the end of the bar working on an electronic screen for some while who was totally oblivious to the service being handed out. Our meals arrived quickly, I had ordered a burger which came on a rectangular dish with a small wire basket with some thin fries in. Not a piece of salad or garnish, just a burger and a few chips which are at best warm. No member of staff attended our table and enquired whether our food was satisfactory. The menu itself is not particular exciting. On this visit experience we won’t make another. I could have had a better meal in a McDonalds at a better price and customer service.
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The portion sizes were too small and the chips were burnt. I was shocked when the waitress still served them to us. The most disappointing part was that no one seemed to care about the quality of the food, it was all about making money. The prices were way too high for such terrible food. We will definitely not be returning.
The restaurant filled our needs on a Sunday night when many restaurants are closed. There was no need to book and the service was quick and the food came out on time. We had pizzas which were huge. Got a Wetherspoons feel to the place.
The food was excellent and the service was quick and efficient. The atmosphere was peaceful and quiet. We loved the beef burger and the superfood salad with extra vegetables. The restaurant is dog friendly and the seating is comfortable.
We frequently visit this restaurant for drinks and decided to try their food last Sunday after returning from vacation. We had taken our family there a few weeks ago as it is close to our home. Unfortunately, we have found that the food is never hot enough. I ordered the game cottage pie and had to send it back because the middle was almost cold. However, when it came back it was delicious. My husband ordered the scampi and chips, but they were lukewarm and he did not enjoy it as it became cold halfway through. Amble Inn, while you offer decent pub grub, please make sure to serve it on properly warmed plates.
