Located in a prime spot on the seafront at Newbiggin I can see why this place seemed popular.Although not that large, service very slow. Order arrived after about 25 mins. Cutlery was dirty, drinks not piping hot. Scone was served with two packets of flora. Lots of room for improvement. And dog poo around the table. Would not go back or recommend unfortunately.
I don't know if the owners think they are in Venice or Sorrento but certainly the prices are on a parr withe either of these expensive places Two milk shakes and an ice cream float (an ice cream flowing in a glass of lemonade) I know they need to make a living but over £8-50 for three glasses of milk with a blob of ice cream. NEVER AGAIN
Quick ice cream on a cold and windy day.... for old times sake Bertorelli’s IS Newbiggin Family history... Father, as a small boy, late 1930’s,living Tyne Side, holidays meant Newbiggin.... rowing boats and Bertorelli....Myself and siblings, early 60’s, living Tyne Side, Newbiggin and Bertorelli’s...Family went South.....Visits home...... Bertorelli’sMarriage.... 1990’s onward.... visits home and, you guessed....Now with kids in tow..... 2020 Still the same 1937 vibe..... please don’t change.... walked in as they were closing, still served with a smile.... superb Ice Cream as ever
Went today. Milkshake nothing more than flavoured milk. Tables were not cleaned between customers and no contact details were taken. Not impressed
Had coffee and ice cream. Our 3 year old appeared to enjoy the icecream but the coffee was 'Tasteless 'a complete waste of money. We didn 't have cake or scones as the were overpriced!! They have not enrolled on the current government scheme which offers £10 off your meal or a 50% reduction. They were also reluctant to accept payment by card and proffered cash. Rather unusual as most places are preferring card payments due to Corona virus precautions. Will not go back will find somewhere else in Newbiggin for refreshments.
