What User doesn't like about The Purple Elephant:
I was about 5 or 6 times at the purple elephant and never really enjoyed my meal. I have tried a tonne of different things (French tweebel soup, burger, reuben, tacos, wing, desserts and more.) I have only really enjoyed the wings that they do not even themselves. I really like this place because it has a tonne vegan options, but I still really enjoy my meal. View all feedback.
This restaurant is a fantastic spot with a primarily vegetarian menu. They offer a variety of cuisines, including vegan wings, tacos, and Asian-inspired dishes. The nachos were delicious and the cheese didn't taste like cashew cheese. The vegan wings were tasty, but I wish there were more than three in an order. The stuffed spaghetti squash was also excellent, with a generous portion packed with green peppers, red peppers, garlic, and vegan chicken. However, the dish has a strong tomato flavor, so it may not be for you if you dislike tomatoes.
Food is incredible . Better quality food than some of my fave local spots in Costa Rica . All they’re missing is some plantains on the menu, and ceviche !
My family and I love The Purple Elephant. Even our pickiest eater loves it here and enjoys several different items on the menu. I personally love the surfers’ bowl and can easily have it every day. Whether you’re vegan or a carnivore you will find something you’ll love here. We happily drive almost an hour to get here. So worth it.
Love this place and it’s food! Good service, awesome decor and the view at the balcony is gorgeous. Definitely worth a try!
Loved the ambiance of this restaurant that is set off a wooded street and right near the water. There is outdoor seating on their back bacolony that allows you to view the harbor and a small outdoor area at the front. The Purple Elephant statue is definitely a kid attraction, as they are compelled to climb aboard to take pics. Lot's of Vegan options, as well as some Non-Vegan. The Buffalo Cauliflower was a big hit, as well as the Shrimp Patacones with Guacamole (served on fried plantain patties), and the Onion Rings. I ordered the Vegan Bean Burger with Yucca Fries. Not a fan of the burger, but the yucca fries were yummy. The burger flavor was there, but it was not appealing to the eye and it crumbled out of the bun. I wound up eating it with a fork. We ended our meal with desserts. The mini cheesecakes were delish, but as stated on the menu, they are mini, 2 bite-sized pieces. The rice pudding was delish, but the Vegan Creme Brulee was super dry.
