**Dining Experience at J. Alexander's: A Mixed Bag**
J. Alexander's presents a tantalizing menu, offering consistently good food, such as the standouts like Hong Kong shrimp and generous portions of carrot cake. However, diners have reported a lack of attentive service, with waitstaff falling short of basic expectations, leaving dirty plates and neglecting to check in on guests. The atmosphere has been described as dark and gloomy, raising questions about the overall dining experience. While some patrons appreciate the reliable quality, others emphasize the need for improved service to match the restaurant's upscale image. Overall, J. Alexander's remains a dependable option, albeit with room for improvement.

This is such a great restaurant. I took my mom here over the weekend for lunch and I was craving for a good salad and I remembered them having a really good one. Sure enough when I looked at the menu I remembered which salad I had. Between my mom and I we had the Grill Artichoke appetizer, she had the Chicken Pasta Soup and as main entrees I had the Thai Kai Salad and my mom had the French Dip. Let me tell you, we never fully finish our meals and we both finished all the dishes. Clean plate club! The salad was perfect with the thinly sliced chicken and just the right amount of dressing. The French Dip was delicious and with the perfect baguette and loved the mini fries that was cooked perfectly. Restaurant environment was nice and clean, great staff and cant wait to come back here again.
Exceptional meal with coworkers from Utah. Asked manager if they had carrot cake—he laughed and said they would go out of business if they didn’t serve that nightly. Speaking of which that carrot cake is from another world. So delicious!!Great service also. The special Icelandic Cod fish tacos were very tasty.
Good food, lame pour. With the prices they charge for drinks, it’s unrcontionable the small amount of Grey Goose they pour. If I go back I will definitely order a beer.
I had heard a lot of good things about this restaurant, so I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately, I found it to be just average. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken, and it was as ordinary as it gets. The decor brought to mind the typical restaurants from the '80s. To be honest, I don’t think I’ll be returning. It wasn't terrible, but there was nothing special that would entice me to come back.
I ordered the ribeye with mashed potatoes, and my friend chose the BBQ salmon. We were both extremely satisfied with our meals. To finish off the evening, we shared a slice of key lime pie, which was the perfect way to end our food coma. The bartender prepared some amazing custom drinks for us, and I wish I could remember his name because he was truly exceptional. He was delightful to chat with and clearly passionate about mixology. He even surprised us with a delicious key lime martini! Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant!
