A very casual little place serving delicious Malaysian style South Indian curries. Don't be put off by the fact that the food is in a bain marie. It is delicious. The rava onion dosa definitely worth eating. Good choice of dosa and vegetarian options. Curried squid was very popular. Excellent value for money and byo. Very pleasant staff in a spotless small restaurant. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Sri Devi Curry House:
Clean, bright lighting, BYO, no frills , no background music- just friendly and welcoming with self-service for a range of dishes from the bain marie. Tasty curries, nice roti. View all feedback.
Simple no frills restaurant which is more like being in food hall where you order and choose what you like from a bain marie. There are a few other dishes you could order from the menu like Nasi Lemak, Mee Goreng, etc. Owner is ethnically southern Indian Tamil born in Malaysia. This is the kind of Indian food that Malaysians/Singaporeans are used due to their large migrant population from south India.
The owners used to run a resturant in Subang Jaya in Malaysia, which I used to go to regularly when working there. So when I found out who they were, the restuarant felt like a godsend to my then rapidly deteriorating taste buds. There had been other Malaysian restaurants at the very same location before Sri Devi, and they had all been disappointing for one reason or another. But not this time though! Sri Devi Curry House not only managed to come up with the best South Indian-styled Malaysian food in the Perth CBD & surrounding area (if not the state!) , but attracted regulars -myself being one of them! The pricing is reasonable for the type of food served, and has a decent a-la-carte menu. If you are alien to these type of cuisine, but love spicy food, go for the chicken varuval or goat curry. The only thing that keeps this place from being 100% authentic is the fact that they don't serve the food on banana leaves - but doing that would probably break some WA health & safety rules!Worth the money and time, every time.

This place was an average place to find in if you are after Indian Singaporean food. Onion rava dosa and lamb masala was stand out
In William Street Sri Devi is a curry house in the Indian Singaporean style, with a range of curries, vegetable, meat and fish, available in the Bain Marie at the back of the dining area – and with the opportunity to order rotis, dosai, murtabak cooked to order. It opens in the evenings, and for lunch from Friday through the weekend. It is unlicensed but glasses and ice buckets are on hand for those looking to have a wine with their meal.On the recent Friday we went along the dishes in the Bain Marie ranged from chicken, pork and lamb through a couple of vegetable and fish curries – the small, whole, fried fish was an obvious choice for me, along with mackerel curry and a crunchy cabbage curry. The fish was crisply cooked, the skin crackling and protecting the succulent flesh – the sauce spooned over had all the flavours of Singapore – and with a very zesty chilli bite – it was spot on.Equally the mackerel was well-cooked, firm to the bite, and again the spice levels were on target – it really took me back to Little India and some of the great meals I have had there.A pleasant mildly spiced cabbage dish added a little vegetarian edge and the mound of rice which came with dish nicely al dente.I noted that on weekends they serve up fish head curry and that is enough to have me coming back soon.Cheap, cheerful, quick and friendly service, well prepared food with spice levels just right – Sri Devi deserves a visit.
