Contribute FeedbackShimizu, located in Northbridge, offers a wide variety of Japanese dishes with a special twist. The menu is extensive, with delicious and freshly prepared dishes. The restaurant is cozy and has friendly staff, making it a great spot to satisfy Japanese cravings or enjoy a casual date night. The Teriyaki Salmon Bento, Giant Potato Fry, Croquettes, and Tonic Miso soup were all impressive. Despite mixed reviews about the vegan options and service, overall, Shimizu seems to be a reliable choice for hearty Japanese cuisine.
For those who do not know Japanese, shimizu roughly translates to pure water. sat here on a Saturday night for dinner with my non-veg sister. they pointed this place above all to me, because he had a large number of nude dishes that were in the position to be roasted. Note that the prices are not really on the website's menu, but the noodle dishes range from about $13 to $17. the most important meals/dons are somewhat more expensive, probably from about $15 to $18 maybe? bentos are $27, but pretty big. most of the portion sizes are in fact decent, so not bad for the price. was eating something deep roasted so ordered the veganized version of tempura udon. tempura was beautiful crisp with decent cuts of vegetables. the Udon Stock was visibly flavored schiitake. a bit sweet, which has deceived me first that it was Bonito-Stock. the shiiitake mushrooms that had to beat the udon had the taste, but I didn't notice it because it did not spoil the aromen or something. mochi was excellent! especially the sakura aromatized, as the sakura leaf, in which the mochi was wrapped, was softened in a kirschlikör and had a sweet aftertaste. do not make the mistake to try to eat it, however we did it! sis and I discussed an evaluation for this restaurant and then I could not find out why I would give this place no more than 75% now, as I write the review, I think the reason is because, although there are Veg options, the original menu elements are not designed with Veg*ns in mind. so the veg*n options are missing a bit of creativity, by taking out "essentially the non-veg options with the non-veg components, but nothing to replace. if creativity has no priority for them and they are only looking for some hearty reliable Japanese, this place is a winner.
I placed an order on Ubereats and the food arrived perfectly presented and hot, just like it would be in the restaurant. I tried the Karaage Chicken Donburi, which was extremely tasty and satisfying. The Japanese chocolate cheesecake was incredibly creamy, rich, and delightful. I will definitely be returning to dine in person.
We tried the number 1 roll and it was deliciously crunchy. The 'complete bento' was very filling and satisfying. The Unagi eel was smooth and rich in omega oils. We enjoyed both the food and the friendly service. The wasabi provided a spicy kick to our taste buds. Overall, it was a great dining experience.
Shimizu have amazing food and put a lot of care into their presentation. The staff are very nice and helpful. Always a great food experience! Thank you :
We opted for the Teriyaki Salmon Bento, along with sides of Giant Potato Fry, Croquettes, and a refreshing Tonic Miso soup. When our food arrived, it surpassed our expectations. The sweet potato chips were huge and perfectly coated in a delicious glaze. By the end of the meal, we were already making plans for our next visit. Despite its unassuming decor, Shimizu offers fantastic dishes that are sure to please. Whether you're craving Japanese cuisine, planning a group dinner, or looking for a casual date spot, this restaurant is the place to be.
