Contribute FeedbackThe Fresh Food Cafe at M1 Watford Gap services offers a quick respite for travelers, though experiences are often inconsistent. While the atmosphere can descend into chaos during busy periods, there are highlights like well-presented salads and fresh baguettes. The staff’s friendliness varies; some patrons report unfriendly service, while others appreciate their dedication. Menu availability can be hit or miss, and unexpected delays dampen the experience. Despite its challenges, the cafe provides satisfactory options for those looking to bypass fast food, though it’s advisable to manage expectations for service and food quality.
At Northampton Services at 7:15pm, I was disappointed to find that half of the menu items were not available. The lack of jacket potatoes and halloumi left me with only one vegetarian option - the loaded falafel chips. I hope they taste good when they finally arrive!
Upon arrival, we were not greeted with a welcome or a smile. We ordered four plain wings with fries and chilli fries. Although the chilli fries were tasty, they did not resemble the photo on the menu – some sour cream and jalapenos would have been a nice touch. The chicken wings were served cold, and when I brought this to the attention of the staff member, I was initially told that there was no manager on site. However, a supervisor eventually appeared from the kitchen. When I questioned if they were the manager, I was informed that the actual manager was next door at McDonald's. I was basically told to go seek out the manager myself for a refund. There was no apology for the cold food or any attempt to resolve the issue. Eventually, we did receive a refund, although they seemed to believe that another portion of wings should have been sufficient. I recommend training staff on food temperatures and customer service. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
We made a pit stop at the Fresh Food Cafe located at the M1 Watford Gap services for some cake and tea. The service we received from a young woman was extremely unfriendly, as she didn't greet us with a smile or a hello, and didn't wear a name badge. Despite the sign clearly stating 'one pound off any homemade cake with a hot drink', when we ordered two slices of cake and two cups of tea, the woman only took a pound off the cake with a purple label. When we pointed out the confusion, there was no apology or attempt to rectify the situation. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.
Beans okay, egg okay, sausage and bacon okay (did not have hash brown) the mushroom was disgusting, oozed water and had an awful texture. On complaining and asked how cooked, “in the oven”. No offer to refund any part of the cost trad breakfast with coffee just short of £10.50. Only comment they would feedback to the chef.
Fish and chips and chicken strips and chips basic services food nothing special. The staff in the kitchen should be a bit more attentive as my peas were stone cold they had never seen the microwave so they went back. Came back hot !! Always expensive for small portions
