What User likes about Katsuya:
Was wandering by at lunch and tried this place. It specializes in breaded meat dishes with various sauces. I tried the pork loin. It came sliced with a crispy breaded coating and a sauce on one half. The sauce was tasty, but did make the breading go soggy before I finished. The meal was large for a lunch as it was preceded by Miso soup and came with a fine stringy cabbage and a pile of rice.Warning: no credit cards.I... View all feedback. What User doesn't like about Katsuya:
I wanted to try this place on a friends high recommendation of it.I ordered the original katsu (premium cut). The pork was well breaded but it came covered in a sauce so it became soggy and lot its crispiness. The taste of the sauce was mediocre.I wish I ordered without the sauce, or at least to have it on the side. The place was busy, mostly with the younger set.The price is fairly reasonable for a meal. read moreThe restaurant offers generous portions, beautifully breaded proteins, and friendly service. Stick with the original Japanese sauce for the best experience. The fusion sauces may not be as well-received. The menu includes simple and inexpensive dishes, with large portions. The katsu dishes are recommended, with different varieties available. The new Gerrard Street location provides efficient and friendly service, with large portions and tasty dishes. Prices are reasonable, and the food is flavorful with a variety of sauces. Overall, the restaurant offers a satisfying meal with a neat atmosphere, quick service, and enthusiastic staff. It is highly recommended for a visit.
