There are two cafes within this large garden centre. We visited the larger of the two. The cake was surprisingly good as were the flat white coffees. The garden centre has a large interior shop which sells everything from food to clothing. Like many garden centres nowadays it seems more orientated towards being a retail outlet than a horticultural centre. View all feedback.
What SueTimmis doesn't like about Melbick's:
The food was fine but the service for a quite Monday afternoon was very slow and disorganised. I know Covid precautions mean everything takes a bit longer but this was just very slow which is a shame. View all feedback.
We arranged an afternoon tea in Kiplings for my mom and aunt, it was all very nice, presented very well and all tasty and fresh. I would have preferred more choice of sandwiches with ham or chicken (only had one of each between two), quite a few different cheese sandwiches, and there was tuna and prawn for the fish choice. The cakes were lovely, quite artisan but the best bit was the scone. Light and fluffy inside and a nice crunch on the outside. Perfect! Service was prompt and friendly, and you can have limitless pots of tea all included in the price. The tea was also nice. Good quality cream and jam, too. I would recommend Kiplings for afternoon tea and we will return.
Not value for money, had a hot sandwich which came with salad and crisps, or you cud pay £2.50 for some chips. You would expect would still have the salad and crisps as included, but no just a handful of chips. Even a bottle of pop was so over priced.
Came for the garden centre and coffee n cake. Cafe...uncomfortable solid, metal-backed chairs and £4.45 for a bakewell slice, £4.45....yes, £4.45!!!!
Most importantly the staff are always so helpful and friendly. They are so kind to old and young and dogs. The refurb is wonderful and with two areas to eat and drink it’s a great place to relax with friends or meet business colleagues. Food , plants, gifts are all excellent. Aw and don’t forget the butchers and deli. The main restaurant is dog friendly and have a dedicated place for families with a dogs. Great place to buy gifts
I was treated to afternoon tea for my birthday, and wow I was not disappointed. All the sandwiches and scones were freshly made. We also had amazing cakes, the chocolate with salted caramel was to die for. There were unlimited hot and cold drinks, Great valve for money, service by Lynn and Tina was very good, I would have no hesitation of recommending it.
