This restaurant is less than fancy and seems quite dingy at a first glance....but the food is damn good & the portion sizes are very generous. Don't expect any conversation with your service or anything but basic courtesy, but again this place isn't fancy, just good food and lots of it.The evening line ups in the Winter months can get crazy, so we often eat there for a late lunch instead. What User doesn't like about Golden Pearl:
Called at 5 pm to make our order and at 7:30 pm we still didn't have our delivery. Called to follow up and they didn't care that we hadn't received our meal nor did they even start our order. No effort on the Resteraunt's part to fulfil our order. Kinda hungry and not at all impressed. View all feedback.

As other reviewers have said - this is not a fancy restaurant, but it's got delicious, food and plenty of it, for a very reasonable price. Since our favourite inexpensive Chinese restaurant in Burnaby changed owners a few years ago, we've been looking for new "go to" place, and we've finally found it. We don't mind going here all the way from Burnaby! They're happy to make substitutions on their combination dinners, and only charge the difference that the menu shows between the 2 dishes. Three of us shared a "dinner for 3", ate well, and had enough leftovers for 4 lunch sized containers.
Food is good. Portions are great. Best value in North Vancouver if you ask me. Lots of people complaining here about taste. I come from Richmond where Chinese food dominates. I still think this place is good for North Van standards. This is my 2nd visit and I will definitely return.
I have had their take out for years and although many places are closer to home I continue to patronize the Golden Pearl. This night we went to the restaurant and it was busy busy (Chinese New Year !) and we had a reservation....not usually needed, but on a weekend maybe a good idea. Some items on the dine-in menu are not on the take out menu...so it is worth going to. One item we had on the dine-in menu was fried white fish. Exceptional...nice bite size pieces (a lot) of fish in a batter. If I was English it would be the perfect fish for fries for fish and chips !. Lettuce wraps...we ordered two orders for four (should of ordered one order)...sweet and sour pork (basic and crunchy good)...prawns and green beans....Actually, your can probably make up anything you want and ask and they will make it. Very friendly family staff and very fresh food.A lot of Chinese restaurants are basic....Golden Pearl is too...but the food is a few notches better.....worth going to before or after the movie next door....or take home.Go back? Of course.
