Unfortunately, it was a bad idea as the pancakes were overcooked and the bacon was hard. It was an experience I do not wish to repeat. There are much better places to spend your hard-earned cash.

A couple of us had a burger... read more Went to okapi on Thursday night with friends and they’ve completely changed the menu. So much better now and thoroughly enjoyed it. A couple of us had a burger and both said it was the nicest burger we’ve had for a long time! Delicious! Friends had fish and chips and pizzas and some had tapas, there really was something for everyone. Oh and the squid was amazing too. Then was time for some yummy cocktails. Had a fab night and will most definitely be back very soon.

It was Saturday at 6:00 pm and there were only 11 c... read more We decided to stop by this restaurant tonight as we were passing by, but it turned out to be a bad decision. It was Saturday at 6:00 pm and there were only 11 customers and 4 bar staff inside. We ordered 2 identical cocktails and had to wait 15 minutes for them to arrive. Customers near the door seemed to be friends of the staff, with one of them even standing inside the bar smoking and chatting with her friends without any repercussions. It's unclear how this place is still in business, as they seem to have gotten everything wrong. We definitely won't be returning, as even the nearby Wetherspoons is much better than this place.

On bank holiday Monday my friend and... read more I had already been to Okapi Lounge several times for drinks which has always been fab. It has a happy buzz about the place. On bank holiday Monday my friend and I decided to share a bottle of wine and try out some of the food! We are so happy we did! It was quite clearly made on the premises. We could actually see the chef making the amazing scotch eggs to order! We opted for three of the small plates: the black pudding scotch eggs; the chicken goujons; the homemade sausage rolls and the spiced lamb flatbread and accompanying sauces. It was all absolutely delicious and very filling. Along with great service and a happy atmosphere, the only thing left to say is that we will definitely be back! We might even bring our husbands next time because they would definitely approve. It really is a very welcome addition to Whitley Bay and I would highly recommend giving it a try.
