What Penny Whitfield doesn't like about Green Moustache Rooftop Garden Bar And Restaurant:
The venue is pleasant leafy and green and in an airy and elevated position. However, the service from one of the wait staff and the manager was extremely disappointing. As a group of 8, with the exception of one, we all wanted to order from the Bloom menu which was $65 for 2 courses. However the 8th person wanted the gnocchi dish one of the cheaper options on the a la Carte menu but was only able to order it by payin... View all feedback.

Upon entering the restaurant, I patiently awaited the attention of the staff at the entrance, but it seemed to take an eternity for the person engrossed in their monitor to acknowledge my presence, let alone offer a greeting. The service left much to be desired. Initially assuming we were only interested in drinks, the staff neglected to take our orders, despite my prior communication with the restaurant to modify our reservation from 9 pm to 8:30, ensuring we wouldn't miss the kitchen's closing time. Strangely, we were not provided with a food menu, and our attempts to make eye contact with a waiter went unanswered for a frustrating 20 minutes. When someone finally approached our table, we were informed that we had to place our food order at the bar. However, we clarified our intention to order both food and drinks. To compound matters, the initial order brought to our table was incorrect. Upon pointing out the mistake, the server left the vegetables from the wrong order on our table while rectifying the main dish. Astonishingly, these vegetables were later moved to the correct table after lingering on ours for at least 5 minutes, raising concerns about hygiene. When I requested salt and pepper, my attempts to get the attention of the staff proved futile. We also ordered a mystery wine, but no one bothered to inquire about our preferences. Even as I was still enjoying my meal, the waitress prematurely removed the salt and pepper from our table, giving the impression that we were about to leave. To add to the disappointment, as we exited the restaurant, no one extended a farewell or thanked us for choosing their establishment. The overall experience was marred by a series of service lapses, making it a regrettable dining encounter. In addition to the service mishaps, I ordered the lamb ramp, a dish that failed to meet basic expectations. Surprisingly, the staff neglected to inquire about my preferred level of doneness for the lamb, leaving me puzzled about the preparation. Furthermore, the dish lacked any discernible salt, robbing it of the essential flavor element. This oversight in both preparation and seasoning added to the overall disappointment of the dining experience.
We had a lovely lunch at Green Moustache as it was near the North Sydney station. My friend is vegetarian and we had forgotten to mention it when we had ordered the bruschetta, which had proscuitto, and the server Jono or starting with Yono (I forgot his name, tall gentleman) kindly was able to bring my friend another bruscetta that was vegetarian! We really appreciate the kindness of all the servers we encountered when we came for our lunch last Monday, they were all very lovely. Amazing service! The portion size of the $25 bruschetta for myself was so filling I couldn't get to the curry I had ordered. It was certainly difficult and messy to eat as it was so large, chewy and had to be held, but it was very delicious and has to be the best bruschetta I've ever had! The japanese curry was underwhelming and I had ordered it as there was only one pasta dish, and we had assumed there would be more. The sauce was thin, there was no rice and it was very untraditional and unfamiliar with lots of sweet potatoes, which I thought were deep-fried seafood... I wouldn't recommend the curry as I found the euro-fusion not very tasteful. My friend enjoyed her gnocci which was vegetarian, saucy and delicious. The food came out very fast as we arrived before the kitchen opened, and about 20 minutes later all of our food had come out. I would recommend visiting and trying the bruschetta! Vegetarian options: They accommodated for my friend's vegetarian diet despite we forgetting to mention earlier. We are very grateful!

I'm sorry to say this was the worst meal I can recall having dining out. We were in a party of four, with two of us having lamb, one having salmon, one having pork main courses. The lamb was terrible and impossible to eat. It was very poorly cut and full of gristle. It was so bad that two of us had to send our lamb back. We then ordered the steak steak instead and it came fairly promptly. However, the steak was largely inedible again with lots of fat and gristle. I could not eat this. Our companions said the pork and salmon were okay – with one guest saying the salmon was a sort of quality you would expect from an RSL. The potatoes and broccoli were good, which formed most of my meal! We did not stay for desserts. The wine list was extensive with a good quality wine at a reasonable price. There was a partial service recovery when the bill came and we found two of the main courses had not been charged for. However, there was no attempt by management to come and learn why we were so unhappy. To put this in context we eat out a great deal, I can only recall having sent food back on one other occasion all in the last 20 years. Adrian
