Unpretentious Restaurant in an elevated position. Lovely terrace on a good day with fine views. The food is excellent and the staff friendly.
We were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome we received when walking into this restaurant and asking for a table on a busy Saturday evening. Despite the hustle and bustle, the service was still good and the food was both fresh and delicious.
The best curry in Bristol for me so far and I’ve been to a lot. Their takes on classics are delicious and I’m yet to have a curry from there that’s not up there!
A former pub located on a steep hill out of Long Ashton village, this is a well-established restaurant although perhaps unsurprisingly was not particularly busy on our recent Friday evening visit due no doubt to the current spell of extremely warm weather we’re having. It’s...perhaps looking a little bit tired in terms of décor, but is still pleasant enough and the odd two room layout means that the restaurant is effectively split in to two. The menu offered an extensive selection including all the usual basics and the staff all seemed friendly. Service seemed a little slow though, with quite a long wait for the main courses. If that’s what it’s like when they’re quiet, I wouldn’t like to be there when they’re busy. Unless perhaps it’s a ploy to keep you drinking since they know they’re not going to fill the restaurant anyway. I decided it was a little warm for my usual patia, so went for a Chicken Panch Mahal which was finely diced chicken cooked with ginger, garlic, coriander in an “exotic chef’s sauce”, no less. This was a pretty decent dish, the small pieces of chicken were unusual and it had a decent punchy flavour without being too hot. The accompanying garlic naan and pilau rice were also both pretty good. All in all, a pretty safe bit and the nearby Miner’s Rest makes a great spot for a pre or post (or both dinner pint.
