I loved this pub in the world of Harry Potter... the only place to serve a fire whiskey cidder served by sometimes sweet bar cracks that were creepy and ingenious! the animatronic Boar 's head was also a great note. on the whiskey you can get especially handmade beers and warm butter beer. DEFINITELY a fun cozy place to chill and have a few drinks. also PLENTY of interior and exterior seat!!! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Hog's Head Pub:
Went to the bar to order some drinks. Ordered 2 frozen butter beer and two shots of whiskey. The bartender LARRY filled the two shots and set them out front. He asked if we wanted the butter beer frozen or cold which I then again said frozen. He printed the receipt and got the two frozen cups. When he saw I didnt leave a tip he complained that I didn't tip him for just pouring a drink. Then took the shots back and po... View all feedback.
Ok, we were kind of hungry and decided to come here. but seeing the plates around us, my wife and I decided to just share 1 plate. good thing, too. the Portions were far more generous than one would expect from a theme park. and the butterbear? was reasonably priced specially if you consider the fact that you get to take home the mug
First off: You cannot order food here! It's in the attached restaurant and has a separate line. This place is solely for DRINKS!! You can non-alcoholic Butterbeer in three ways: regular (cold), frozen and hot. It's almost like they have an entirely secret menu because NOTHING IS POSTED! They have beers: Hog's Head Red Ale Dragon Scale Red Lager Wizard's Brew Stout Stella Artois Guinness Angry Orchard Cider Seasonal Honey Mead Whiskies Vodkas Rums They way to make an alcoholic butterbeer is to buy an add shot of anything you like. I'd think Jameson or a dark rum might be good. Some people love the cinnamon whiskey combination but I think that would cancel out the butterscotch flavor. There's also a Hog's Tea- like a Long Island Iced Tea and a Hog's Bite- Cider Beer combined. Then there's a Triple: Cider, Beer Guinness. There is a roaring HOG'S HEAD at the bar. It moves from side to side and grunts too! Entertaining while you stand in line looking for a menu that doesn't exist! There is no annual pass holder discount on alcohol. The seating is catch-as-catch-can in the few tables in the pub and adjacent Three Broomsticks dining room. There's outdoor seating as well. Restrooms are conveniently one door down on the left. Say hello to Moaning Myrtle in the Ladies' Room!
Can't complain or expect too much for amusement park food but I was pleasantly surprised with my meal! The plates are pretty loaded, and yes the turkey was dry but it's def the better food in the park. Looking for seating was a challenge but I def got lucky.
There are many locations where you can get butter beer around the Harry Potter section of universal studios. And you can get it as a regular butterbeer or frozen. But at the hogs head you can make your drink more special by buying a shot of Jameson, vodka, rum, or fireball. Before you add your shot you should drink a bit of your butterbeer because when you add your shot because it would overflow. I've tried it with a regular and frozen butterbeer. The regular butterbeer will have a stronger kick with the alcohol and the frozen one can hide the taste of the alcohol better because it is sweeter. I prefer to get mine with Jameson. And the hogs head also sells other drinks like beer, wine, and mead.
Tired of Butterbeer? Are you a parent in need of rest while the kids run free around the park? A Harry Potter aficionado looking for a place to drink? This pub is for you! It's located in the Wizarding World at Universal Studios Hollywood. You can find the entrance to the right of the restaurant Three Broomsticks. There's almost always a line to get in, but it moves relatively quickly. The interior resembles a medieval inn, with various wood and stone elements. It was cozy, and had a rustic aesthetic to it. The level of detail is amazing and accurate, it really feels like you're walking on an actual movie set. There's a handful of themed drinks as well as some non-magical options everyone should be familiar with: Stella Arois, Guinness, etc. I tried the namesake Hogs Head Brew, which was a simple red ale. I found it pleasant, having a sweeter and lighter finish compared to other boozy beverages. For the under twenty one crowd or for those who prefer things sweet, Butterbeer is a fizzy non-alcoholic drink that tastes like a combination of cream soda and butterscotch. It's very refreshing and well worth a try. Theme parks are not just for young ones, there's plenty of fun for the adults as well!
