We really enjoyed our visit to The Bull. Super friendly staff and the food was great! Our only slight disappointment was that the food took a long time to come out over an hour. Love that the food is cooked fresh and they did explain it was because we were the first customers of the day and the ovens needed time to get warmed up. Personally I wish there were more real ale options with only Proper Job available. All i... View all feedback.
We made a reservation on the day of our visit, requesting a table large enough to accommodate our greyhound. We were given a spacious table that allowed our dog to sit comfortably without inconveniencing anyone. The food was excellent, particularly the lamb rump. The service was friendly and discreet.
I had another fantastic meal at this restaurant. The best pie I've had in years and the mashed potatoes were exceptional. The staff were friendly and lovely, and the restaurant is dog-friendly as well. There's no need to travel miles for great food when this charming pub is right on our doorstep. It may not be the cheapest option, but the quality of the food makes it well worth it.
Yet another amazing dining experience! The food is consistently outstanding and the service is top-notch. It's wonderful that the owner personally ensures that his customers are satisfied. After three visits, this has become our favorite spot to eat! We can't wait to try the Sunday lunch special on Father's Day!
Food and service was excellent. Really high quality ingredients and preparation. The pub has a really nice ambience and feel. HOWEVER. The experience was marred somewhat. I parked legally. Taxed. Car park full. On a road next to the pub outside a row of cottages. No disabled markings. No parking restrictions. No gates obstructed. An irate resident demanded the pub request I move the vehicle. Why? Because it was ‘their’ space. Had they been more pleasant I wouldn’t have mentioned it. They were just angry and twisted (JR Roofing) When it was explained I wouldn’t move until it was confirmed I wouldn’t be blocking cars in in the car park they went red in the face. Clearly they are used to people being intimidated by their angry demeanour. Rather than cause pleasant staff problems I went in and checked and accommodated. Hopefully the establishment can work out a system where this entitled, quick to temper person doesn’t try and intimidate patrons with their tantrums. Fortunately I’m used to dealing with such people in the future this may become an issue.
I booked a landmark family birthday party for 14 people at 5.30pm on a Saturday evening we had youngsters so did not want to be any later. Some of the family had travelled here from Yorkshire and Berkshire with their children and we were delighted to be given a nice room to ourselves at the back of this well respected village pub. Unfortunately, it soon felt that the kitchen was not ready to cater for so many at one time and the two friendly serving staff made a hash of the orders, resulting in a bit of to and fro ing as things were returned etc. Following a long wait (35minutes) after the starters had been cleared there was more confusion with the main meals resulting in a final steak being served long after the rest of us had finished, this was deducted from the bill but the optional service charge wasn't and it wasn't paid either! As we walked through the main bar, the place was busy with diners and we met a family friend who is a regular and told us the food is really good here whereas we thought it was average. I can only surmise that our experience was perhaps down to our early dining time when the the full kitchen compliment were unavailable.
