Having passed by a few times and seen the Car Park packed with all kinds of Bikers, I made a specific visit on a week day to check the place out. Whilst it was much quieter, I still received a friendly greeting, was seated straight away on a table socially distanced from others. What Mal G doesn't like about Silver Ball Transpot Cafe:
The Silver Ball has been a bikers cafe for many years, good to see that it survived lockdown. The food is very basic and God knows what is in the sausages. The menu is what you'd expect, full English, etc etc. There is very little in the menu that is suitable for veg/vegans The service is OK, I have been served a full English with the bacon missing and was told it would be brought to my table, it never was. This cafe caters to bikers, who are often seen as rough individuals who enjoy downscale food. As a biker myself, I appreciate the cafe's welcoming atmosphere for bikers. However, the quality of food served here falls below the average standard of popular fast food chains like McDonald's or KFC. To continue patronizing this establishment, despite its lackluster service and food quality, requires a high level of tolerance. With a little more effort from the owner, the cafe could improve by sourcing higher quality ingredients and taking more pride in their offerings and service. Currently, this cafe seems to cater mostly to those with limited options, resembling a throwback to the food scarcity of the post-war era. It's time for these establishments to upgrade and provide a more modern dining experience.
The staff at the restaurant are extremely friendly and willing to help with anything. The food is tasty, reasonably priced, and served quickly and efficiently.
This restaurant was terrible. Not only was the food bad, but the owner and chef were incredibly rude. The atmosphere inside was as unwelcoming as the lukewarm, tasteless dishes they served. Save yourself the trouble and drive a few extra minutes to eat anywhere else.
I went for a breakfast recently, the food was only just ok but was bland. The sausages are very cheap and basic and they have a cheap PINK tomato ketchup. 5/10
