after a cold day in donna nook I was in the necessity of a beautiful cuppa and some fishing and chips. the deck boat was recommended by a local and I was not disappointed. the ambiente is a traditional coast chip that I think is good, the fish was tasty and plentiful, and the staff was friendly. What Jamie Thomas doesn't like about The Leaking Boot:
Visited the Leaking Boot on our day out with the grandchildren. The food was absolutely disgusting and the presentation very poor. The staff are very ignorant and dressed untidy, Lots of flies in the restaurant which could have been controlled better. Would not recommend this...place to anybody. See attached photograph of invoice. Adults and x children. No card facility for payment. Had to go to another shop to make... View all feedback.
Went for take away. Was waiting ages . Young girl miserable. Not friendly. Chips were dry . Never had this before not a great experience.
Left with table with no cutlery. Fish jumbo was supposed to come with bread, but didn 't, still had to pay for it. Fish was stinking, not sure what 's the issue, maybe didn 't change cooking oil. Ladies toilet out of service, men 's toilet has no light. I reported my issues about food to waitresses, so she offered me free drinks, she gave me drinks and change I gave her £30, Cost of meal ~27) change returned £0.10!. Later on I realised she actually charged me for free drinks . Welcome to Cleethorpes!
So so so busy after the parade on Armed Forces Weekend. And yet the staff were still friendly and professional. Great tasting food and great value for money.
A small queuing area for the takeaway was frequently disturbed by the coming and going of restaurant users including several prams. Plenty of staff so service wasn 't too slow. Price wise very reasonable. Food was fresh cooked and enjoyed by all.
It saddens me to write this negative review. I have been coming to this Chippy for years, every time I travel to Cleethorpes from Sheffield. There was no cod so we had Haddock which isn't usually a problem. However, fish was of poor quality and cooked in fat that stuck to the top of my mouth. Chips were ok although cooked in same type of fat, as fish Curry Sauce and Mush peas were also alright. Staff as always were lovely, so this is a shame
