My go-to sushi place. Dining inside can be a bit cramped because the space is crowded and they're usually busy (they do have outdoor seating, though). This is one of few places from which I prefer to order pickup/delivery. They get it right EVERY time and I've never been disappointed by a roll.Food: 5/5 View all feedback.
What Wanita Niehaus doesn't like about Kusshi Sushi:
Located in the very popular pike rose, this is a very solid, if not inventive, place for sushi and sake if you have a craving. I sat at the bar and oddly the hot water was broken so I couldn't get a tea. It wasn't busy and the bartender did a fine job of getting me drinks. Not friendly or rude, but proficient. I happen to enjoy chatting with the bartenders when I'm at the bar but that's just my preference. Eel cucumb... View all feedback.
Kusshi is the first Japanese restaurant I've come across that masterfully integrates a market, sushi bar, and whiskey bar, each operating in harmony without interfering with one another. This is a feat often considered impossible in the restaurant industry. Upon entering, the market area presents an inviting display of delightful candies and a diverse selection of Japanese snacks. While it may appear slightly cluttered, this adds to the relaxed atmosphere the place aims to create. I also appreciated our server; he had impeccable timing.
I had a delightful quick lunch and everything was excellent! It's always a pleasure to see trays of sushi being prepared for catering events. I started with miso soup and a delicious salad, which I loved, especially with the sesame dressing. I also treated myself to a roll and a few pieces of sushi, both of which were fantastic.
The Tiger specialty roll sushi and Kusshi noodles were absolutely delicious. However, I wasn't a fan of the shrimp and vegetable tempura; I found the tempura style a bit repetitive. The soup was tasty, and the noodles were quite thick.
I had toro for the first time in about 20 years. It was exactly as buttery and fantastic I remember. The miso ramen soup was not bad at all. The octopus app was meh. Tempura was GOOD. We had some other sushi as well and it was above average.
Awesome spot to grab some Sushi and noodles in Bethesda area. Amazing service from our server Monica, she went above and beyond to take really good care of us. We will definitely be back again!
