We ate at many places in Woody Point, Trout River, Rocky Harbour, and Norris Point. The Old Store Cafe was one of our favourite stops along our week long trip. We tried the chilli with homemade cheese sauce, chips and coffee. It was to die for! Would recommend this Cafe to anyone driving by Norris Point. View all feedback.
This used to be JustinThyme Bean and Bistro. A nice refresh of the interior-a mix of industrial style and mid-century moderne, with local artists and artisans works displayed and available for purchase...but now on to the food. A nice selection of panini sandwiches (I recommend the veggie-black beans, bell pepper slices, cucumber, tomatoes and Gouda-so delicious and filling), a couple of daily soup choices and a "hot meal selection" daily. Today was beef stew-neither my companion nor I tried it-but many around us did and proclaimed it excellent. Delicious coffee (including espresso, cappuccino and lattes) and handmade desserts to accompany them (chocolate cake is to die for!). They do have lovely looking salad selections in their cold case as well as a (small) selection of wine by the glass and beer. It's cozy, pleasant and delicious. If you are in Gros Moerne national park-I'd recommend you give this place a try!
Better than it looks from the outside. We bought a couple of toasties to take away and some muffins. At first I found the staff unhelpful as I asked what was in the case and was directed to the menu. They then relented and talked me through the case display.
We where looking for a stop after supper and came across The Old Store Cafe. The desserts were amazing! The muffin possibly the best ever eaten and the cider hit the spot. There is no where else in the area to get dessert in my view and if you paid for it at another restaurant you spent your money in the wrong spot!
Was very happy to find this place after being turned away from two empty restaurants in town (The Black Spruce and The Sugar Hill Inn), at around 5:30pm when looking for somewhere to eat before taking the BonTour's evening cruise out of Norris Point. The sandwiches and salads were terrific, as was the service and ambiance.
Really enjoyed stopping in here! I had a wonderful cup of coffee and an even tastier bowl of vegan soup which is very rare! My husband had a yummy muffin!
